Yay, somebody else jumping on the Watchmen bandwagon!
I haven't seen the movie, but I'm currently reading through the graphic novel at a sedate pace. Recently, I'd been visiting a tutor for narrative construction at university to help me with the comic that I'm doing for my Artworks project. He suggested that I look into Watchmen, because he said that my character (my nameless nightmare man with the red and black face) is a bit similar to Rorschach. I'd never even heard of Watchmen until I saw adverts for it on TV, but my curiosity was roused and I paid my local Waterstones a visit.
I admit, I was a little perturbed by Rorschach when he first came into my view. I couldn't believe he called the Comedian's attempted rape a "moral lapse". But as I continued reading, I began to sympathise with the character. After reading about his childhood, you would feel a bit sorry for him, wouldn't you?
I suppose my nameless man is a bit similar to Rorschach, but more by how they both dress. At least my man doesn't have the personality of a pound of mince. At one point in my story, my character breaks the finger of a thug. Imagine my disbelief when I found that Rorscach did the same thing in Watchmen!
Anyway, essay over. Here is the inkblot.
