I actually did this 3 years ago (and moaned about it in this journal http://sagaxus.deviantart.com/journal/11332687/#comments), but I've finally gotten around to posting it. I had tried taking photos of it, but I'm really not a good photographer, then I forgot about submitting it :\ So I scanned it into my computer in two parts and pieced it together on Photoshop (you can see the line down the middle where the two parts join together. I've tried to blur it out.)

This is actually a copy of the original painting. My Dad urged me to get a copy made in case somebody else wanted a copy of the painting. At the time I was skeptical about folk liking this, but thank goodness we did get copies made because three more people wanted to buy it! And three more went to good homes in the following months. The original painting is currently hanging on the wall of the man who asked me to do this in the first place. He gave me £100 for it, even though this wasn't supposed to be commission.

Funny old world, isn't it? I always smile when I think of what one of my cousins said when she first saw the pencil work... 'It's gonna be a real beeyatch doing all those leaves!'

Gouache with some Photoshop tweaking.

TrissIf you look closely enough, you can tell where I started losing my temper with this :D

_ren_tao_fan_I would guess you lost your temper around the branchesof the trees, not because they look bad, because they don't but because I'm pretty sure that's exactly where I would start ripping sizeable chunks of hair out of my head, if I was paining something like this.

TrissIt wasn't the branches that made me foam, it was all the leaves. I used a stippling technique to do them (using a dry brush and carefully dabbing it on the paper). You have to take care with that sort of thing and try and be accurate.
