Underneath the Mistletoe...

Description

My entry for the Christmas Contest. I was torn between fluff or comedy, but in the end I chose comedy.

The Count had told Jack that there was a cute girl wanting to give him a kiss under the mistletoe. Technically, the Count wasn't lying... he just failed to specify that this girl was only seven years old :D

I know it looks pretty flat, but I'm trying to keep in with the style of the Mina and the Count cartoons: thick outlines and flat colours. I was also inspired by the Ghouls' Tribunal episode (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vO6vBACOPQQ), where, near the end of it, the Count forces Igor to give Mina a kiss (much to poor Igor's revulsion). Mina didn't seem perturbed at all by the fact that she was going to receive a peck from a monster hunchback!

So Jack is getting the same treatment with the same results :D

By the way.... am I the only one surprised by how many people can't seem to tell the difference between mistletoe and holly?

She looks like she is having the time of her life! AHHA look at that small stature! *-* How did she even jump up and kiss him? He looks like he is cowarding under her embrace. Quite the opposite during Halloween though, isn't it? Love the small candy cane detail in the back! The flat colors kind of bring the cartoony feel out.

Also, in reading your mistletoe and holly comment, I looked up mistletoe and holly carefully ,and I realized I have been mixing them up. ;______; This makes me embarrassed! I KNOW NOW! I KNOW NOW!!!

I had considered drawing a stool to explain how she managed to attach herself to Jack's arm. Really should have done that :\

Jack was expecting a slightly older woman to be waiting for him. Sloppy little girl kisses make him go 'YEUCH!'

I'm surprised you noticed the candy canes over the gingerbread hangmen! I did put in one more visual gag, but I guess it's too small to see.

*squints at the picture* Is it the small spider with a purple bow? Or is it the hanging dolls on the tree? Somehow, I think that is more crudely hilarious. :P

Yes, it's the spider :D It's a bit ticked off at getting trapped in the bow.

And they're not dolls, they're gingerbread hangmen. A slightly morbid take on gingerbread men :P

Awwww that is awesome. the fact that it is "flat" works well for it the style you were going with. And yesh I have noticed as well that people keep using holly as their mistletoe... but I let it go. XD

I didn't even notice that til how that is awesome!!! It really fits with the halloween meets christmas thing here. Hey they have to celebrate christmas to. XD Oh and I also like the Jack wrapping paper. XD
