Monkey's Tale Ref Sheet

I've hit a couple of stumbling blocks while working on my latest commission. First was that I wasn't good at drawing Gavin and Kom looking aggressive, and without constantly looking at references, so I decided to make some sketches and put them together as a reference sheet for myself so that I don't have to look at the movie all the time. I was having so much fun drawing them that I didn't realise just how many sketches I made! Most of these are just copied from the film, a few are my attempts at their fighting faces

The next stumbling block is drawing the jungle foliage, but I am working on that one by drawing some rough thumbnails of the environment before committing the idea to a bigger sheet of paper. Then I wonder how to best go about it! Should I draw everything on paper or should I do it all in Sai or Photoshop? Decisions, decisions...
