"All little children have their little flaws, be it in their appearance or in their behaviour. Children are never perfect. But she was. Catherine was wise and never had a temper, like most children do. She wasn't an adult, but she was innocent. She was complete..."

I just finnished reading 'Spirits in the mist' (I forgot the name of the writer, sorry) and this is in my eyes the main character. She's just 4 years old when she dies in a horrible way.

Susannah was her mother, a beautifull woman. Susannah had a little sister, Agnes, who's face was terribly disfigured. Anges was always jealous of her sister and one day, she locked Susannah and Catherine away in a room.
She leaves them there for 14 days. When Agnes opens the door again, Susannah was alive. She had collected rainwater by placing little pots outside the window. Catherine had died from exhaustion and her blood was everywhere. There was only one way Susannah could have survived that long without food....

Agnes closed the door again and 2 months later, she threw the body of her sister into the ocean. Agnes was forced to live in the house where she had killed them. She was tortured by the presence of their spirits. Agnes searched endlessly for peace, opening every bedroomdoor and slamming them shut again when she didn't find it.

Until this day you can still hear a woman scream, a child cry and doors being slammed in that house. Only if you listen close enough.
