Sub-Zero and Sareena from Mortal Kombat, nothing really happened between these two... it looked like it was going to and who knows what's going to. But I do base this on the events in the games that a relationship could have happen. For anyone who doesn't know the story about them...

History (original MK timeline)
It starts when Shujinko rallied Earths remaining warriors to defeat the new threat in Onaga, Sub-Zero (Kuai Liang) once again ventured back into Outworld where he soon ran into Sareena. Since she helped free his brother from his confines of the Netherrealm and also helped defeat Quan Chi with him so many years ago, Sub-Zero offered her asylum within the Lin Kuei.

Sub-Zero gave Sareena a small metallic object that would guide her access to the hidden Lin Kuei temple. The two then spotted two dark figures leaving Shao Kahn's fortress, it was Sub-Zero’s brother Noob Saibot and his good friend Smoke, the two disapeared into the Netherealm. Sub-Zero ordered Sareena to wait for him at the Lin Kuei temple as he ventured after the two, however Noob and Smoke knew they were being followed and attacked Sub-Zero in the Netherealm. It appeared the Grandmaster was overpowered and doomed until Sareena jumped in fending off Sub-Zero’s would be assassins but not before Sub-Zero was left unconscious, but upon waking Sareena had reverted back to her demonic form, dazed and still very confused Sub-Zero attacked and Sareena fled to the depths of the Netherrealm, not wanting to harm him.

However, Noob Saibot, Smoke, and her former master Quan Chi, who demanded she provide them information about the Lin Kuei, later attacked her. At first Sareena refused, determined to remain loyal to Sub-Zero. But Quan Chi then cast his dark sorcery upon her, returning her to her human form and then convincing her that she can never be good and that she is simply a pure evil demon. Swayed by Quan Chi's corruption, she agreed to serve him once again.

In Armageddon's Konquest mode, Taven encounters Sareena still serving Quan Chi. They battle but Taven beats them. After the battle, Sareena escapes Quan Chi's hold over her. In her Armageddon ending, she defeats Blaze, causing his power to flow into her. She is left unconscious until Sub-Zero reaches the top of the pyramid and revives her. When she awakens, she realizes that she had gained the ability to freeze. She then confronts Quan Chi and freezes him in a block of ice. Sareena and Sub-Zero place the sorcerer in the Lin Kuei temple, where he will remain frozen forever.

Her Armageddon ending is non-canon, but it's stated that after Taven frees her from Quan Chi's control, she returns to Sub-Zero, but she ends up dead with everyone else. Everything that happen up to Armageddon was not continued, some of the characters even had their past rewritten in MK9.

Sub-Zero/Sareena
It's not just the events in the games that I based this couple on, Kuai Liang has shown to be a very caring and generousy character.
"With his freezing powers enhanced by the medallion, he vowed to reform the Lin Kuei as a force for good."
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance Bio

Despite Sareena being one of Quan Chi’s personal assassin demons and coming from the Netherealm, she is a good person. When she briefly met Sub-Zero's older brother (Bi-Han), she expressed a desire to escape the Netherealm when she said
"Take me with you, I've waited an eternity to escape."

In Armageddon, when someone defeats Blaze, they're granted whatever he or she wants the most. So for Sareena, she wanted to be reunited with Sub-Zero and have the ability to freeze… it's almost like she fully became a Lin Kuei member since she pledge loyalty to them.

I have it that Sareena takes off Sub-Zero's mask and pulls down his tight black hood so she can feel his hair. I have Sub-Zero in his outfit from MK2 and 4, although it looks more what the Masked/Classic Sub Zero wears in MK3. I didn't want to go with the one where he's bared chest and he's not wearing a mask or his TMNT Shredder costume… both of those sucked, but his ice arms are the ones he first got in MK4. Sareena is in her Mythologies outfit.

Opposites
Frost turned into nothing but an arrogant self-interest lying backstabbing murdering dog, her Deadly Alliance, Unchained, Armageddon and MK11 endings proved that.
"As they traveled back to the portal that would return them to Earthrealm, Sub-Zero revealed to Frost that she had been an integral part in the destruction of the Deadly Alliance, and that he was proud to have her as a member of the Lin Kuei clan. But unknown to Sub-Zero, Frost's true intention for joining the Lin Kuei was to become Grand Master herself. She used her ice blast to temporarily immobilize him and ripped the Dragon Medallion from his chest. As she held the medallion, she felt power surge from her body. Lacking the strength and discipline required to control the medallion's immense power, she was consumed by her own freezing ability."

Unchained: "Sub-Zero returned to Earthrealm only to find many of his clan slain by Frost. She had come back to the Lin Kuei temple with the intention of killing only him, but she was now delirious and saw Sub-Zero everywhere. Sub-Zero blasted her with intense cold, freezing her until she could be revived and cured of her dementia. He laid her on an altar in the chamber of fallen Lin Kuei and sealed the room with a wall of ice. Frost will one day recover. When that day comes, she will have to answer for her crimes against the Lin Kuei."

Even some of the other characters (the good guys) like Sonya hated her. She joined the Forces of Darkness and stated "The Lin Kuei will be MINE!"

Frost's non-Canonical Armageddon ending states
"Her strength increased, Frost once again took the Dragon Medallion from Sub-Zero and enhanced her freezing power far beyond her former mentor's. Traveling to Outworld, she located the tomb of her ancestors, the Cryomancers, and planted their souls in the bodies of the current Lin Kuei. Her army of Cryomancers conquered the realms, leaving each of them a frozen wasteland."

Even though MK9 changed the timeline and events, the MKX comic and 2015 video game showed that her attitude and personality didn't change. Frost was just as out of control, uncaring and untrustworthy as she was in the original timeline. To the point where Sub-Zero had to freeze her.

This whole thing with Sub-Zero and Frost is completely made-up and based on nothing (that's nothing new) since she didn't show any signs of having feelings for him at all. Sareena briefly met the older Sub-Zero in Mythologies and they never saw each other again when he was still normal, so there's nothing to base them on being a couple either, although that's for anyone looking for actual reasons and facts.

Saibot and Sareena's attitudes and personalities don't match up at all.

In Ashrah's Deception ending it states
"Noob Saibot was not originally a demon, which might explain why Ashrah sensed such great evil in him: He had to earn his place in the Netherrealm. He actually desired to remain there."

In MK9, Saibot stated that Quan Chi restored and perfected him, that he and Kuai Liang are not brothers. He's thrown into the Soulnado and destroyed since he wasn't seen again in the MKX comic or game.

Mortal Kombat (2011): "Quan Chi should never have resurrected Noob Saibot. Nor should he have enhanced his power to defeat Shao Kahn. The revenant he created had broken free of his control. Noob had secretly formed an "understanding" with a cleric from the realm of Chaos and opened for him a portal to the Netherrealm. Shinnok, Quan Chi and the Brotherhood of Shadow were unprepared as the forces of Chaos overwhelmed them, leaving the Underworld severely weakened. Satisfied with his work, the cleric, Havik, returned to the realm of Chaos. Noob Saibot remained to seize control of the Netherrealm."

Sareena only briefly mentions the Elder Sub-Zero in MKX but gives a very vague story of what supposedly happen in Mythologies, what she does say doesn't make sense and it doesn't do much for her character. In the original timeline, Sareena was just following orders but she had always wanted to escape the Netherrealm, meaning she was always a good person that didn't need to be emotionally freed from Quan Chi's influence. He was only able to do that to Sareena during Deadly Alliance, which took place years after Mythologies when the Elder Sub-Zero was already Noob Saibot. It's Taven who frees her and others but the only thing that Taven does in Armageddon is just... knock her out... he was a half-god so maybe it took that type of power.

In MK11, Frost is not only still evil, but a machine, so physically she's not capable of having any sort of intimate future with Sub-Zero.

Mortal Kombat 11: "Grandmaster Sub-Zero's most dangerous apprentice. When Sub-Zero made historic peace with his clan’s enemy, Scorpion, defiant Frost challenged her Grandmaster as unfit to lead. Sub-Zero defeated and banished Frost. For years, she sought the power to destroy him. Now she has it."

In MK11, Saibot tells Frost that if he was the Lin-Kuei Grandmaster, he would disallow women from joining... so Sareena wouldn't be able to join.

Frost's MK11 ending states
Mortal Kombat 11 (Non-Canonical): "Sub-Zero dismissed me. Raiden dismissed me. They all did, even Kronika. Until I froze the smug looks off all their faces and became the Lin Kuei's new Grandmaster. The Hourglass offers even greater prospects. With it, I'll mold history to carve my name on everyone's lips. But even its power has limits. My vision can be upended by people's individual choices. Unlike Kronika, I won't let these imperfections fester until time itself must be restarted. The Lin Kuei will be my time warriors. Travelling through history, they'll get rid of those whose actions threaten my vision. From now on, no one will overlook my greatness. I'll never be dismissed again."

Noob's MK11 ending states
Mortal Kombat 11 (Non-Canonical): "Kronika said I would lead the New Era's deadliest clan. But she made such promises to many. She could never keep them all. So I betrayed her, before she could betray me. When Kronika's sands fused with my shadows, my ambitions grew. Why be ruler of mortals, when I could rule destiny itself? Mortals resisted, but could not stop, my blanketing history in cold, endless night. All is dark. All are shadows. I have had many names. Now I am become Death, destroyer of worlds."

Sareena only briefly mentions the Elder Sub-Zero in MKX but gives a very vague story of what supposedly happen in Mythologies. What she does say doesn't make sense and it doesn't do much for her character. In the original timeline, Sareena was just following orders but she had always wanted to escape the Netherrealm, meaning she was always a good person that didn't need to be emotionally freed from Quan Chi's influence. Sareena
For a long time Sareena was hated for idiotic reasons despite the facts that I listed above... I'm not sure if she's still hated, but it wouldn't surprise me if she was, but she hadn't done anything wrong, she helped and remains loyal to one of the most popular character's in MK, she only turned to evil because Quan Chi made her. But yet this retarded fanbase (like so many others) seems to hate characters for whatever reason they can think of... I'm not saying hate all the bad guys because they're bad... and like only the good guys because they're good... but if your going to hate a character, then come up with some actual good reasons because I never saw any for Sareena.

Makes No Sense
When it comes to people who say that it makes more sense for Sub-Zero and Frost to be together and for Sareena to be with Noob... they never state the facts on this, they don't say anything about there personalities or the events from the games... they say nothing... because as you can see, they can't, it doesn't and it wouldn't make any sense at all. So the only thing they can do to exaggerate and lie in order for it to be believable. They just end up writing Noob Saibot acting more like his younger brother, Kuai Liang wasn't ruthless, he's kind, caring and vowed to reform the Lin Kuei as a force for good... so what's the point??? Why not just put her with Kuai Liang? Sorry people, but you're head canon doesn't work when you have to completely rewrite a character's personality and attitude

Final Thoughts
Having said all this, I don't see these two getting together, the MK writers and developers are not very good at writing romance at all, the history and the similarities between certain characters, what makes a believable couple and so on. MK11 is just a woke game and the DLC Aftermath (a cash grab) destroys all the buildup and character arcs the good guys got... well done NetherRealm Studios... well done...
