Description
The Mari is a Finno-Ugric tribe, which has its own republic called "Mari El" within Russia. There's more than 604 000 people who identifie themselves Mari, either Meadow, Mountain or Eastern Mari.
Their language is rather closer to Finnish than Hungarian, if we look its conformity between the two biggest Finno-Ugric languages.
I decided to draw this because the ressemblance of her name and the tribe's name (what a pun, huh?).
She sings a popular Mari song that means (not word for word): Can the young man dream where are you? Can the young man dream when will you come?
