Description
Description
It's a UAZ-469, that was an all-terrain vehicle made in Ulyanovsk (Russia) between 1973 and 2007. It was designed by the purpose of replacing the GAZ-69 in the army of the former USSR (and also in the other countries of the Eastern Bloc). This model was successful thanks to its perfect off-road abilities, even it is still in use in the modern Russian army.
The car was also used by the police of many Eastern-European countries, or even by foresters. It turned to be available for civilian users mostly after the end of the eighties, but only for a short period.
According to Jeremy Clarkson, this car is the worst one ever made in the world (you can watch its test here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nd5ka91fkDo). However, he probably forgot the fact that the car wasn't created for civilian, but for military use, and from that point of view, maybe it's one of the best.
Hope you like it ;)

Wow! This is one of your best pictures yet! +favs, you got almost every angle perfectly. wicked! My dad told stories about this car. Once he and his friend drove to a party with such car. But the road conditions were terrible, and even with this car, they almost stuck in the mud. Eventually they barely made it out, and then they saw a Polski Fiat behind them. The little car attempted to get through such muddy road where the Uaz almost failed... So the Polski stuck, and two fine ladies in evening dresses climbed out of the car, in the middle of the wallow! What were they thinking?!:D

Sweet! Your art really improves. The proportions are better and you are getting better and better with your coloring and hading skills. Keep it up! :)
The cars were used in Polish army but in the late 1980's FSR developed a new car - Honker 4x4 to replace UAZ. UAZ's were sold to private users - when I was a kid they were used as tow trucks. Today, they are popular among the owners of mountain hostels - they are the only way to get there :)

Thanks much! I'm glad you say that ;)
Anyway, it is still in use in at least one company of the Hungarian army, but they're replacing them gradually with Mercedes G-class, and the wasted sepcimens are sold for civilians.
There's a guy in my neighbourhood, who has a lot of UAZ 452s and one or two UAZ 469s, but all of them are out of order.
