To be honest, I mostly concentrated on paterns on the buildings and the road much more, I mean to find the ones that match well to them, but colors are just as important as the patterns indeed :) 

The buildings are very well represented;
some with a neo-colonial style and other with a very modern style.
Also there is a great effect of perspective, with several distinct plans, and the mountains in the background.
And it  nicely creates an interesting depth.

As of the concept, I mostly did the way as my friend requested it, but the background and the flag was my own idea (for the occasion of the National Flag Day there). 

I know the characters, but the illustration was very good! Would the Mexican Herbie?

Hehe, not really, it's just a regular taxi cab there.
I drew my friend in my style, but it looks closely to the one in which FHFIF characters are drawn, as Craig's style inspired me alot among others.
