This here is of my own design! One og my karate teachers was doing origami one day and made a cool dragon, but wouldn't tell anybody how he made it(there were a bunch of people waching over his shoulder), and so I tried to figure it out, but to no avail... I continued to try to figure out how he did it for the next couple of months and never got it, but instead I invented another, very similar dragon (that had its wings folded @ its sides, not out-streached like above[yet!]) and it was actualy much better than the one my teacher made, so I decided to stick w/ that one. Over the course of two years since, I changed it and developed it more, and then it finaly became this! (I think 'this' rocks!^^)

It's only a couple of inches tall, but that's about adverage for most origami models made from printer-paper. :)

I hope you like it... Any comments? *hint-hint* ^_____________^

blind_strangerOk, about the whole crane-base thing... If you were to make the regular crane, the center of the paper would end up being the point on it's back, whereas here, in this dragon, the center of the paper is actually the tip of its front foot. (so the crane-base is actually upside-down) ...Does that help?

tripletrouble3I made something similar to this a long time ago from a streched-blinzed-bird base. Is that what you used?

I'll check that book out; it sounds great! (I've been searching stores all over the place for a good origami book, but most of the ones I've found are geared tward utter-beginners and boast about how "easy" the models are... *sigh*) -_-

Thanks for the coments! :D

StratadrakeVery cool! I know I don't have the patience for experimenting with origami all the time... have you heard of a book called "Origami for the Enthusiast" by John Montroll? That has just about the coolest designs I've ever seen (like a pegasus model so detailed it's almost anatomically correct).
Hmm... looks like you based this dragon off of a modified crane base or something. I know a few of the standard starter shapes but nothing much more than that.
