Pirate" for sesshy's contest

I’m FINALLY done with the picture^^ *Jumps around* It took me forever.
I have a lot of things to say about the picture, but I guess I’ll start with there names:
The Merman's name is Isamu, the girls name is Etsuko, and the cat’s named Kiku.

Yesh, I drew a Merman! I like the idea of “Fish people” but some of the Mermen in One Piece are kinda weird looking… ok there are REALLY weird looking.
I tried to make Isamu as non weird looking as possible and still make him look like a fish. And I LOVE the way he turned out!^^ (Just a heads up, the tattoo that he has is NOT supposed to be Arlongs. I hate that guy)
There is another thing that I noticed about the Mermen in One Piece that I thought strange. I don’t remember them having gills! So, I gave Isamu some gills on the side of his body. Yay Fish!^^

On the other had, while Isamu was really easy to draw I had to draw Etsuko’s entire body and outfit 4 Time’s over again to get the right look. But, I have to admit, I like the way she came out as well.

There is not much to say about Kiku, but I have some stuff to say about why I made her part of the trio. If you have ever read anything about the “olden days” and the ships of the past, you might find that a large majority of them had cats! Why would you put a cat on a boat you may ask? Because they weed out and eat the mice that stowaway on the ships.
I find it strange that no one in One Piece has a cat! (not that I have seen anyway)

I Tried to make them more “Modern” looking by using bright colors, mesh, and water shoes (yesh, Isamu is wearing water shoes. Yay! water Shoes!^^)
And you cant have Pirates in less one of them is wearing a bandana^^
