Actually, far as I can tell it scanned just fine, it's just that most pencils don't have much contrast to begin with (as compared to paints or so forth).

I tweak my scanner's exposure settings all the time. I used to adjust my pencil drawings for really high contrast, but then I realized that doing so made the blank paper look really dirty, so I stopped doing that.
