What kind of weapon is he wielding ?

I'm asking, because the blade shape suggests it's a spear, presumably Yari https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yari - samurais indeed had access to that weapon and even developed own martial arts https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C5%8Djutsu , though their swords are better known.
