Buuut...see, Sauske and his brother are the last remaining with the sharingan. One of Sauske's relatives gave Kakashi the sharingan in his left eye before he died - therefore sauske, his brother, and Kakashi are the only three that have it....Unless it's in an alternate universe...then of course, your explanation would make sense!
