ATHENA Known as Minerva to the Romans. The daughter of Zeus and Metis. The beautiful goddess which sprang out of the head of Zeus fully grown with armor and spear. It was Athena who blamed the victim (Medusa) for having been raped (by Poseidon) in her temple and cursed her beauty to an ugly countenance, which turn living beings to stone. The beautiful Athena is the goddess of war, justice, wisdom, skills and the arts. The owl is her symbol of wisdom. Athena resembles the greatest attributes of her father Zeus, in this manner and still the one most likely to succeed him, so a prophecy Zeus tried to avoid may yet be revealed.

I enjoy drawing the Myth characters, which are at the root of all written literature as well as today's movies and comic books...

VioletAngelI love greek mythology! Personally my fav is Artemis but setting that aside. I didn't know what she was actually the daughter of Metis, I always thought she popped out of the head... *like no motherish* . And I really like how you designed the outfit! i don't understand the alpha part though... (in the title)

jiraYeah "Falthee", but Athena was more of a tomboy for a goddess... Thanks for the heads up!

Falthee on April 6, 2006, 5:21:06 AM

Falthee on
FaltheeI agree that you can't really tell that she's a 'she', but that's not a problem in my book--Athena was the virgin goddess of wisdom, arts, and war...when did she have time for sexy armour??? lol. Leave that for Aphrodite. Athena wasn't big into sexual allure. Great work!

jiraMany are the tales concerning Medusa's curse and stone look gaze, but they all make for good reading anyway... Thanks!

SkullServantThat really touches me because I have a niece named Athena, and I hope that prophecy means she will be a great success.

animegurl15This is a really well drawn picture and I tihnk you did an excellant job of portraying her as a war goddess, my only compliant would be that you cant seem to really tell that she is female.
