Description

Description
jira
Hephestus: The son of Zeus and Hera... Also known as Vulcan by the Romans... He is the Olympian god of the forge, the celestial artist and inventor... Zeus threw him out of Mount Olympus, for taking his mother's side in a quarrel between them... As a result of the fall down to earth, Hephestus came up lame... Because of his master crafts-manship he was welcome back to the fold of the gods. His blacksmith work has made Hephestus enormously stronger than most gods... The Cyclopes are his assistants... The adulteress Aphrodite, the goddess of love (despite having children with Hades and others) is his wife... Your comments are welcome...

jiraThank you “NekoNinja”, but that’s another metaphor and many are the points of view derive from an unfaithful marriage because of Zeus’ adulterous behavior…but that’s what makes reading the Greek/Roman myths all the more enjoyable, because of their various interpretations.

jiraThat's what great about the myths, everyone can pick the stories or interpretations which appeal to them most! Here you see, what I feel most comfortable with... Thank you!

jiraYeah, I read the "ugly" version, which I never liked! I tend to go with the version where a son sticks up for his mother, being the reason his father Zues cast him out of the Mount Olympus! This just seems to make more sense...

Black_BreezeWasn't Hephestus kicked out of Mount Olympus from his mother, Hera, because he was so ugly? I dunno, that's what I read. . . But then again, there are many versions of the story!

Anyway. . . I like the tone you set for his body. Blue is kind of dreary, which is kind of how his life was like. Wasn't he crippled too? Great job!

jiraThank you very much! You're right about there being more than one version!

Some viewers are stuck on the first one they read, but to each, their own! That's what makes myths all the more interesting...
