Finished the thundercloud lower left. The cloud/wall cloud lower left came out of my imagination. Ditching the ref pic always makes me a bit nervous but Im happy with the way it turned out. I even tried to hint at a cloudburst beginning behind the wall cloud, next to the Rams left front leg. I stopped short of a funnel cloud though.

I thought the title said "Cinnamon" storm king. XD The rock colors and the ran's horns and fur really remind me of cinimin though! Great detail! Sometimes, I wish the sky had more variation in color, but I know it is indefinably blue.
I wonder if goats get struck by lightning often up there...
Have you ever drawn a picture with no reference (just from scratch) to see what your imagination can produce?

Thanks Miss Lace. Yea, I know what you mean about the color. Next time I will have to take more risks with the colors. With colored pencil once you go there, your committed. I used to do more without reference when i was a kid. It would be a fun exercise to doodle a bit from imagination again sometime though. Thing is, I really enjoy realism and unless you are a genious with a photographic memory, which I most certainly am not, its hard to nail a subject and have it match reality (what that subject looks like in reality)without a reference.
What brand of pencils do you typically use? I'm particularly interested, as colored pencils are one of my favorite mediums (I have yet to post anything of traditional media here though) and I would love to get advice on what new to try.
Once again, just beautiful...
