Well, this one has a bit of a story behind it. MY art class was doing cork etchings (to print with later like a stamp), and I was at a loss for what to do. Then, I decided to do Dasher. I used my old pic of him for a reference, and added a background and some modifications to fit the classes' requirements. So, I eventually finished it, and the print was horrible. So, instead of putting the cruddiness up here, I took my original carving and scanned it in.
I took my tablet to it and did the lineart by tracing over the scanned image. Then, the usual coloring came. Next, I did the effects on his tail, the butterfly, and the flower. I was really bored, so I took it a step further and used Photoshop's render thingies to shade. Then, the look of the lineart was bugging me, so I decided to try something I've never done before: I colored my lineart. There is actually no black in this, just dark shades of colors.
This was more a CGing experiment than anything, so please excuse the bad lineart.
2 hours to carve, 30 minutes to trace my carving, 2 hours for the initial effects and coloring, 30 minutes to get the shading just right, then another hour experimenting with the lineart.
Sorry 'bout the long description!

He looks so adorable! I can't believe that you actually used him in your art class, man, I wish we were allowed to do that at school, all we get to do is boring old still life if we ever print anything XD Anywa, awesome job! Your a great owner for Dasher, you give him so much attention! Thanks again, he looks so awesome! *Faves a gazillion times and then the computer explodes* Whoops o_O
