...yeah. I really wanted to do something taketo, because the people on the taketo mailing list were so nice about the Cabaret picture. I loved them for it, and wanted to express that love. Because I would have a lot of trouble making Yamato and Takeru believably together in a fanfic, I opted for fanart instead. Designing the outfits was the trickiest part...

Well...because you haven't exposed yourself to a very large amount of it? Trust me. I -like- Yamato as the girly, uke one, don't ever seek out pairings with him seme, and a disproportionate amount of seme!Yamato stuff has come looking for ME.
However: I find this more true with fanfiction than fanart. I tend to think this is because it's easier to make Yamato masculine in writing than it is visually. Even the Japanese fanart I've seen, including really hardcore doujinshi, usually just has them BOTH looking very pretty.
But hey! Yamato IS the effeminate one -- especially when compared to characters like Taichi (who speaks with guttural masculine slang and is insulting to everyone he meets -- he initially talked about Gennai as a "jiijii", a word for 'grandfather' so degenerative that it's what RANMA used for Happosai. Translated by Viz as "old letch".) and Takeru, the wannabe sports star who is the _only_ guy of 02 to get a male voice actor.
Compare these two jocks to Yamato with his pink apron and long hair. It's pretty easy to see why he'd end up being made the 'effeminate' one, don't you think...?
