here is a pic of common mistakes. just to let you know i'm not picking on nobody(i love to incourage and help people) i too suffered this mistakes and this are the most common ones i've found from other people(but no one here) and from myself. this is really only for people who are serious on drawing "realistic" horses. if you like drawing them cartoony then you wouldn't have to go by this. hope this helps somewhat. as i forgot to mention on the paper the withers and hips dont have to be even. sometimes the wither are higher or lower then the rump. also the height of the withers vary. all depends on the breed. some have poor comformation, and it also depends on the individual (such as injury, age) when i was younger i used to copy or trace from horse breed books. it gives you a more open view on the how diff the horse can be from another and can teach you how far you can push it.

JCSamaI copied this to my disk to help me with a dragon pic last year. But it didn't help. But last week it helped tremendously with a horse pic. It's been 7 years since I attempted to draw a horse, But with the help of this, I did a great job of it!!
Thank you ^_^

Sorry for the repeats. nearly all the horse tutorials you made helped ^_^

gohan209Wow... that explains a lot on why my horses stink. I can do a person easy, in anime style cause that's all I do, but animals are another matter. That top horse looks like one of mine. *snort* Good I suck... I'm faving this, and I'm very picky about my favs. ^^
