Tenchi picked up a phone dialing the number of the city police. "Hello... Yes this is Tenchi... I'd like to report that my younger brother... Yes, Rei attacked me with the help of his boyfriend Tataru. A kid I'd say 15 with blue hair and glasses. Thank you chief. Appreciate it." She hung up smirking. “You're in for it now boys."
The police chief started looking through his stacks of files. "Tataru... That name sounds really familiar. I know I have that around here somewhere...." He starts going through a huge file cabinet. "I wonder about Rei though... He seems a nice enough kid. He ran away and then came back just to attack his sister. That doesn't sound like him..." He sighs taking a large sip from a mug of coffee.
"I dunno. I'm not really that hungry..." His stomach growls. "I guess I'm wrong" He laughed lightly. (Before I met Rei I'd usually forget about dinner completely.) "Hmm, maybe noodles"
"What kind? Ramen?" Rei asked getting down a pot to boil water. He nearly drops it catching it last minute. "Ack... so clumbsy..." Rei sighs.
He smiles. "Yeah, something like that." He then noticed Rei almost dropping the pot. "Hey, something wrong?" Rei was usually never clumsy when cooking...he really admired his skills.
"I just got a bad vibe from somewhere. Somethings going to happen..." Rei shakes his head. "Maybe it's nothing... It's probably nothing..."
The police chief finally found what he was looking for. "Tataru, possesion of a deadly weapon. I remember him..." he looks through. "His parents died two years ago it looks like..."
"My home gives off a lot of bad vibes...but you know, you might be right, Rei. Tsuki's been acting strange too..."
"I bet sis has something to do with it..." Rei whispers to himself. "She'd never take a loss without making the person who won miserable.
Tataru sighed. "She sounds the type...."
The police chief sighed. "I'd better go check this out." He decides to take his gun with him just in case. "He drives towards the residence it mentioned in Tataru's file.
"She is... Trust me. Let's hope I'm wrong," Rei kept working on dinner ignoring the feeling in the pit of his stomach. His ear twitches. "Someone's outside
He turned his head. "I can't tell." (But then again, I only have human ears...)
"I think it's one person. Medium weight. I know it's not her though. There'd be cackeling. Maybe a friend of hers..." he says giving a shiver."
Tataru looks uneasy. He stays silent, he hears it now. The sound reminded him of when the social workers came..
The police chief knocks on the door. "Open up. I know you two are in there! One of you two open the door!" he shouts.
Tataru trembles. "It's my house..." He slowly walks to the door and holds his hand on the knob.
"Thank you. Tataru, I got a call that you and a boy named Rei attacked a girl Tenchi earlier. Was there a reason?" he asked staring down at Tataru and seeing Rei coming out of the kitchen.
He looked at Rei wondering what he should say. He'd tell the truth if Rei wanted him too and he himself wanted to explain, but he's also an expert liar.
"It depends sir..." Rei said looking down. "We had a reason. It's whether you believe us or not which is the problem..."
Tataru looked at Rei. (He seems so calm...)
The police chief looks down. "What do ya mean Rei? Your sis has always said you're a good boy. Did she do something to you?"
Rei nods. "She's done a lot. Trust me.." He takes off his shirt showing the man the many scars covering his back and most of his torso. "She did all of this... And more... She lied to you every time you came."
The man blinked. "Holy shoot! Didn't anyone ever look you over?"
Rei shook his head. "She had a friend working for you so no one ever did. She knew she'd get in trouble." Rei bit his lower lip.
"But you two did still attack her. Who stuck first? You or her?" he hated to be on the side of Tenchi after he had just found all this out but it was his job. "And Tataru how'd you get mixed up with Rei? He was reported missing 6 months ago..."
"I don't remember who struck first, we kinda got into a fight. It was because she kidnapped Rei. ...I found him under a bench about a month ago. He looked depressed and he needed somewhere to stay so I let him live here."
The man raised an eyebrow. "That's very unlike you Tataru... Your file labels you as antisocial with tendancies to be violent if I remember correctly."
Rei growled. "Tataru's nice! Who cares about a stupid file! It's written by people who don't know him! Tataru's just fine around me!"
"Calm. I know I've done some wrong in the past...." He looked regretting. "I'm no longer that way, after I've met him...I took notice of him because we have similar eyes...if you can even believe that." His last sentence came out bitterly.
"No need to get mad kid... Jeeezus" the police officer blinked. "So you're saying Tataru, that she kidnapped Rei against his will and fought her in self defense?"
Tataru nodded quietly.
"I could have told you she kidnapped me..." Rei growled. "And I helped fight her a little. I wasn't that useful due to my arm being injured. But I helped as much as I could. If you should be bugging anyone, take my damn sister and stick her in jail! Tataru and I didn't do anything wrong! Just leave us alone!" This man wasn't listening to them. No one ever listened. His sister was too manipulative.
"You've changed a hell of a lot Rei. You used to be so quiet. Well, I know what I need to know... For now. I'll come back if I need more information. I'd better have a talk with your sister."
Tataru had an uneasy look again as he looked at the man. His look said "Please believe us" in a fearful tone. He looked truly scared for the first time. (My lies are believed more easily than the truth will ever be...)
The man left. "This is so screwed up..." he muttered to himself. "What kind of story have I gotten myself wrapped up in?" he sighed. He'd need to find out more. A lot more
"I'm sorry..." He muttered, starring off into the distance. Although it seemed as if he was apologizing to more than one person.
Rei tried to calm himself down. That guy didn't seem to have listened at all. "Sis is going to lie and he's gonna come back. That's how it works. They'd rather listen to her then to me. Always..." Rei sighed. He shook his head. "She'll tell him about Troy and he'll think it was Troy talking and not me. I shouldn't have lost my temper... That's make it really seem like it was Troy, to someone who's never met him before. And then they'll try to force me back with her and put me in therapy or something and then forget all about this..."
"...I won't let them take you from me. I'll prove Tenchi is guilty no matter what..."
Rei nods. "I'm so stupid..." he mutters to himself. He turns to Tataru. "Thanks Tataru... I'm glad at least you're on my side... No one else matters to me but you..." Rei says wrapping his arm around Tataru.
"...Do you really mean that?" he looked at Rei. He seemed dwelling, he seemed not quite there, his mind was busy sorting out other things.
"Of course. Why would I ever lie to you..." Rei asks softly. He notices how Tataru's acting. "Are you okay? Did that man say something to bug you?"
"He doesn't trust me, because of what I've done." (I never even did anything too serious...)
"Well he's stupid. Just like so many grownups. What did you do? He said a lot about a file..."
"I've pulled my knife out and threatened a couple people and beat up this one kid at school...I didn't think they'd have me on record. I'm not a bad person..."
"Everyone always complains if they don't get their way. But those people must have done something pretty awful to you... You don't seem the person to threaten people for no reason..." Rei sighs. "People like them don't understand people like us. People who haven't had expirienced what we have won't understand it."
"They either don't understand or pretend they don't in order to conform and protect themselves. It's a sad world. Even with all this, I think somehow we'll make it out okay..."
"We will. I mean... After everything we've been through things can only get better," Rei said softly, his voice somewhere halfway between sad and hopeful. "It has to." He hugs Tataru again and goes back to making dinner. ~That idiot better leave Tataru alone... Tataru's been through enough.~
"Yeah. It's good to just hope for the best."( I just hope I'll be able to protect the both of us...)
I think Rei came out really well... He's scary when he's angry... And he has no shirt on.... So you can see all the scars and everything, plus the cast Tataru made for Rei's broken arm... And the blotch on his side is from where his broken rib punctured his side. He was beaten pretty badly by his sister a day before this scene takes place.
The police chief started looking through his stacks of files. "Tataru... That name sounds really familiar. I know I have that around here somewhere...." He starts going through a huge file cabinet.
