Goodbye for now...

"And you too must now leave, Michael." Sophia said, turning to Michael.
"You're welcome..."
"I...I...know..." Michael said sadly. "I just need to... tell Rei goodbye then..." Michael went to his and Rei's house, tears building in his eyes.
"Michael?" Rei asked looking over. Something wrong?"
"Yeah....
"With no god to serve, an angel is pointless. Some, like the Seraphim, have grown distant and powerful enough to avoid this fate, or you yourself Azazyel, who is now human and beyond the realm of servitude." Sophia said. "Michael, however, is merely an archangel." Sophia turned and walked towards Michael and Rei's house, preparing to take him.
Michael sat down on Rei's bed, stroking his forehead. "I'm sorry... I don't....want...to leave..."
"I know..." Rei sat up, even though he was hurt. "It's alright..." Rei kissed Michael's forehead. "I'll see you again... someday..."
"Let's go." Sophia said, now inside the house.
"Alright..." Michael kissed Rei, softly, as tears flowed down his face. "I'm sorry... Rei... Aishooteru..."
"I love you too..." Rei wiped his eyes. "Good bye..."
Michael nodded. "I can leave now..." ~I just didn't want to leave without a goodbye....~
"Alright...Then we're going." And with that, nothing else, Sophia and Michael had poofed away.
Rei just stared. Michael was gone... "I'll miss you...so much..." He hid his face in his arms. "Michael..." Tears trickled down his face. This pain was worse, then even that which his sister had put him through. Michael was like a piece of him. So now, it was like a fragment had been torn from his soul.
Harlan propped Shuichi, who was still unconscious, on his back. "Alright...let's get you inside..." He said, moving into their house and laying Shuichi on their bed.
"I just hope... I'll get to see you again..." Rei said sadly. ~It's alright....~ Troy whispered. His alternate self, being the only means of comfort he really had. His dark wings unfurled, curling around him, hiding him from the world, and from all the pain he was in.
"Rei... I'm so sorry..." Michael said... wishing he could just cry.
Sophia was in the middle of nowhere in what was barely existence. "Michael...you shall be in charge of this makeshift nirvana. When human souls die, they will go here, and you will put them in their proper place. Without this, souls would clutter. Are you willing to do it?"
"Yes... I will..." He wiped his damp eyes. "I apologize... I must be a pathetic sight..." ~But Rei meant more to me then anything else~
"I'm sorry." Sophia said. "But it is your duty."
"I know... I know..." Michael shut his eyes. "I know that's my duty..." He took a breath, his wings drooping. "I just..." ~We were like two pieces... we fit together... He fit perfectly there... in my life... in my arms... and in my heart...~
Sophia began walking away. "You have a lot of human souls to sort." ~I cannot bear to hear his thoughts anymore...~ "You should get started." She said, disappearing.
Michael nodded. His eyes bright, glinting with tears he just couldn't cry. His heart was torn. ~If I ever get a chance... I'll go check on him... Rei...~ He sighed, and started going through the lists of names. He didn't want to leave... But, it was his job. ~I...don't want this... I want Rei...~ "Let's get started then..."
