As the executioner seized her by the hand, to lift her out of the cart, she hastily threw the eleven coats of mail over the swans, and they immediately became eleven handsome princes; but the youngest had a swan’s wing, instead of an arm; for she had not been able to finish the last sleeve of the coat.
“Now I may speak,” she exclaimed. “I am innocent.”

From Hans Christian Anderson's Fairy Tale "Wild Swans" It was so quickly done. I feel guilty. But I haven't put anything up here in forever. Hopefully I'll be getting LOTS of stuff up from all three of my lovely art classes this semester. Huzzah for Surface Design and Color Theory and all that jazz!

thelumpThank you ever so much for your comment! I really appreciate it.
You should find the fairy tale and read it. It was one of my favorites growing up. It's a bittersweet tale.

liggybirdI haven't heard of this fairy tale before (hangs head in shame). I like your depiction of this somewhat downcast royal youth. It is enormously helpful that you have given the relevant quote from the story to accompany your drawing. In spite of the obvious impediment, he still manages to retain a princely poise (helped I think by his having quite a muscular looking neck). The brooch and necklace are nice touches. Deserves a comment. ^^
