This is a design of a Fire Mage for a game my friends and I are working on. I watermarked it with my production company and email address to avoid infringment of my rights as an artist. Hopefully the size of this image will make up for the bit that is covered by the watermark... The actual size of this baby is 11x14@300dpi (for printing). The dark gray background is actually as a proof and will not be the final background (because it hasn't been rendered yet). I haven't decided if the background should be drawn or fully rendered in Maya (which would mean I'd have to employ a partner to make it for me--I don't have the time to learn Maya).

The Fire Mage will be one of three basic mage classes (fire, ice, lightning), and her familliar is a Firebird (Phoenix). This also pictures one of the ultimate rods for a Fire Mage. It bears a Phoenix protecting its egg on a wraught wood staff.

This was the first time I've used a burn/dodge technique on the hair (instead of bright white highlights and other shades for shadows), and the first time I've had to render wood. Everything here is of original design, and if you steal it, I'll shank you.

JackWow, really nice pic. The lineart is really nicely done. Here are some critiques:
-add more contrast in the skintone and cloths
-The folds in her what's-it-called should be defined more since it looks pretty flat
-her neck is a bit skinny
overall, lovely pic..^^ keep up the good work!

zerofoxieNaturally, it's hard to fully describe a character's abilities when taken out of context. Meaning, this is a picture of a character to be inserted in a game, and not an actual screenshot of her. It doesn't portray fire at all? Red and black are both characteristic of fire elementals, and the Phoenix itself is representative of rebirth through fire. Just because I didn't show her on fire or casting a spell it doesn't mean she has no posession of those abilities. Was I supposed to show whether or not she's a demon? Because it's my understanding that she's a frail human (as sorceresses don't exactly have much physical strength and tend to be reclusive--hence the pallor), and that's what I've drawn here. Next time, fully read my description before making assumptions.

Don't take this as slamming your comment or my taking offense to you, but REALLY--analyze a picture for all it's worth instead of having your opinion originate from OTHER peoples' ideas of what sorcs look like.

p.s. I did say that was a rod >.>;;;

JakeHartWell it's not exactly what I'd call a perfect picture but it does have it's qualities to make up such a picture as this one. It doesn't really show that she is a fire demon or not since the picture itself does not portay any fire at all. It does however show that she has mage like powers or such as she is holding a wand, or rod, I'm not sure exactly what it is or to call it. But it nicely done as it is
