Chapter 4: Bounties[br]

Carth and I looked at one another, our eyes wide.[br]
[br]
[br]
“Now come with us quietly, Republic scum!” he commanded us.[br]
[br]
[br]
The soldiers walked toward us. I waited till one was near to grab him, and hold to me as a hostage. I had my gun aimed at his head with the blaster pistol. The leader of the patrol watched us carefully.[br]
[br]
[br]
“How did you know we were here? And how did you know we are from the Republic?” I said to him, my gun still aimed at the man's head. I could feel him shaking in my arms.[br]
[br]
[br]
The leader grinned then spoke. “Let's just say you trust easily.” He pulled out his gun and fired. The soldier I was holding let out a scream, and I felt him go limp in my arms as I threw him to the side. I rolled quickly out of the way of the incoming blaster fire and behind a wall, Carth following my lead.[br]

[br]
“How did they know? And what did he mean?” said Carth confused.[br]
[br]
[br]
“I am not sure,” I replied, trying my best not to show fear. “But we need to get rid of this patrol.”[br]
[br]
[br]
I leaned to the edge of the wall and peeked around. I saw them making there way slowly to us. I nodded to Carth, and we both sprang out from behind the wall and fired our blaster pistols at the patrol. I watched as two soldiers fell from our fire, and ducked from an incoming shot when I noticed a frag grenade. I reached out and grabbed it. I looked at the patrol and pulled the pin out of the frag grenade. I tossed the grenade into the middle of them, as Carth and I ran behind the wall.[br]

We both covered our ears, and felt the room shake from the explosion. I waited a couple of seconds before dropping my hands. I walked out from behind the wall, and stared at the scene. The patrol had been wiped out, I then heard a door open and a gasp.[br]

[br]
“WHAT HAPPENED!?!?” a cry demanded.[br]
[br]
[br]
I turned to see two people standing in the doorway of apartment sixty nine. One was a small green rodian with black shiny eyes. The other was an average height person, he was dressed in a golden Mandalorian armour. My eyes widened as I noticed his arsenal of weaponry.[br]

[br]
“Are you Nedina and Bendak?” I asked cautiously.[br]
[br]
[br]
“And what if we are?” the golden armoured Mandalorian replied. His voice told me is a man and most likely this Bendak.[br]
[br]
[br]
“Well then...” I paused, I gathered all my strength. I didn't want to kill, but I had no choice [br]
[br]
“Then you die.” I fired my gun at the rodian and she fell in one well placed shot to the chest.[br]
[br]
Bendak though rolled out on the fire, he pulled out two blaster pistols and fired at us. I fell to the floor to avoid his shot, and quickly pointed my gun at him and fired. He was too quick though, dodging and avoiding each of my shots. I then noticed Carth pulling out his second blaster pistol. I watched as he ducked and fired quickly at Bendak and hit a well placed shot to the head. I watched as Bendak fell, his body limp and still on the floor.[br]

I sighed. “It's done, Carth. Let's go back and get this information.”[br]
[br]
[br]
“I hope it is worth it,” he said angrily. I knew he didn't want to kill either.[br]
[br]
[br]
“Me too, my friend. Me too.” I said reassuringly.[br]
[br]
