Chapter 1 - A Battle
The ground is barren
Our comrades have fallen.
The sky is dampened by sweat and sorrow
And tainted crimson
The silence of the dead
And pain of the dying
The regret of the abandoned living
Thicken the air enveloping our aura of solitude
The solitude we share
With you, I have watched a nightmare unfurl its fury
With me, you have seen a familiar world collapse behind an opaque horizon
Like the sun, it has welcomed darkness after its fall
But it envies the sun...
As it longs
To rise again.
In a day that never will be.
Last vows were made
And much blood was spilt
Screams had echoed
And fled with the dust
And yet we stand
As the rampage pursues
Here we stand
As the world resumes its motion
As broken spirits precede broken dreams
And broken homes leave broken hearts
Yet we are strong
At the brink of all sanity
As the foundation of all hope crumbles
Though I am still standing
I have seen no victory
Unless victory is with you
We have bled
And we have suffered
But we have not died.
We have worried then.
We can worry no more.
As we continue to stand at the battle’s end.
Our comrades have fallen.
The sky is dampened by sweat and sorrow
And tainted crimson
The silence of the dead
And pain of the dying
The regret of the abandoned living
Thicken the air enveloping our aura of solitude
The solitude we share
With you, I have watched a nightmare unfurl its fury
With me, you have seen a familiar world collapse behind an opaque horizon
Like the sun, it has welcomed darkness after its fall
But it envies the sun...
As it longs
To rise again.
In a day that never will be.
Last vows were made
And much blood was spilt
Screams had echoed
And fled with the dust
And yet we stand
As the rampage pursues
Here we stand
As the world resumes its motion
As broken spirits precede broken dreams
And broken homes leave broken hearts
Yet we are strong
At the brink of all sanity
As the foundation of all hope crumbles
Though I am still standing
I have seen no victory
Unless victory is with you
We have bled
And we have suffered
But we have not died.
We have worried then.
We can worry no more.
As we continue to stand at the battle’s end.
