Chapter 4 - A discussion

"Talk? You want to talk? Well, about what? Because I really have no interest in anything you have to say."

"Kay."

"Don't 'Kay' me." He sighed and shook his head.

"What in the world is it gonna take to get through that head of yours?"

"An awful lot. As a taurus, I'm stubborn as hell. So you have five seconds to get through before I walk away."

"Kay, come on. This is stupid."

"KAIBA! You are ENGAGED! What kind of jerk goes and proposes to someone and is pretending to date someone else?! A two-timing, heartless creep who does not care if anyone gets hurt in the process. And...and I thought..."

"What?" he asked, eyes flaring a bit.

"Who the hell care what I thought?! Now I don't want anything to do with you." Before she could run, he had her wrists in his hand. He felt the fluttering pulse with his thumbs.

"Kay, listen to me. I never proposed to anyone. My engagment is an arranged marriage." She stared at him.

"What?" He nodded.

"I'm sorry I didn't make that clear, and I'm sorry I hurt you. The truth is, I don't even want to get married. But when I took over Kaiba Corp., I signed this contract and it locked me in this situation and I can't do anything about it. And they won't tell me who I'm suppossed to marry." His grip on her wrists softened a bit.

"Kaiba...I'm...so...stupid..." She lightly hit her head against his chest. "I got upset so fast...I didn't even think...and...please forgive me." He smiled a bit.

"Only if you forgive me." she looked up and nodded.

"How could I not? I mean, it's not your fault you're in this marriage."

"Well, maybe if I propose to someone before this mystery girl finishes college I can get out of it."

"Good luck with that." He smiled a bit. "So, what now? We 'broke up.' Should we just drop the whole relationship idea? I mean, school's over in just a few weeks so there's not a whole lot of point to it, really." He nodded.

"I guess you're right."

"...can I ask you something?"

"Sure."

"Ok, two questions: one, we're friends, right?"

"I suppose you can say that."

"Ok, and two..." She blushed a little bit. "May I still call you Seto?"

Ah, short sweet and to-the-point. Just the way we all like it. And Seto says yes to her being able to call him Seto if that wasn't obvious. Okies, later.
