Chapter 2 - Work
*~*~*~*~* Seven years later
*~*~*~*~*Canerbary Village (re-inacted pilgram village)
A girl walked down a cobble stone path, her old fashion shoes comforable from use and her light blue dress looked like it was freashly cleaned. She had long red hair and was holding a basket under her arm, with a cloth covering what it was carrying. She waved at the people she passed smiling warmly, and saying cheerful hellos, even to the strangers that wear dressed like normal in this day and age. She went up to a old looking house with a door that was divided in two with a small door on the top and another just below it.
"Morning Mrs. Rosko, how are you?" she said to the women working in the old fashion kitchen just through the door, the top of the door was left open to allow air in and out and let the wonderful smell bring people to the door.
"Lovely dear, what have you been up to? I haven't seen you sence Alicia fell in the garden."
"I've been busy, you know it's the season that Mrs. Anderson loves to do her sowing and gardening, she has me running up and down finding wool and seeds." Mrs. Rosko smiled warmly,
"Of course she does, who wouldn't want a lovely young girl helping out around the house." The girl smiled, letting out a small laugh,
"I was starting to think that you found yourself a boyfriend." The girl blushed when the older lady said this,
"Me... fi-find a b-boyfriend," she stuttered, "You have to be kiding me i don't have the time for it."
"You know that mayor will want you to get one soon," she looked around for turists, "It's in the job you know." The girl smile weakly,
"Yes i know, but there aren't really any guys my age around,"
"Oh? Have you meet the new captain?"
"Captain? We are having a actual ship again?"
"Of course Charlie has been looking everywhere for people willing to work in it and has got it aproved by the board," Mrs. Rosko winked, and the girl smiled,
"He sure does love that old ship."
"That's how he started working here dear, he was the first captain." The girl smiled,
"Thanks for the tip," She saw some turists coming there way, "I brought you some freash vegetibles, from the garden Mrs. Rosko." she uncovered the basket on her arm and handed it over to the older lady, Mrs. Rosko had emtied the basket into a bowl and reacher over to give it back to her. The girl's arms where just a little to short to grab the basket, and she was a little unbalanced, and with a gasp fell forward a little, over the bottom half of the door till a arm grabbed her from behind and stopped her from falling. She let out a sigh of releif as she righted herself and took the basket that was held in front of her, she turned to the man that helped her, she was looking down at his feet, only seeing his black shoes.
"Thank you sir," she blushed, and cursied, then turned following the path back into town, making sure to not look back.
*~*~*~*~* Town
"Miss Kathryn!" A little girl yelled as the red haired girl entered the little pilgram town.
"Hi, Cassie," Kathryn smiled down at her and scuped her up so that she was resting on her hip, "Have any new adventures while i was away?"
"Yep! I went down to the dock and meet this really cool guy!"
"Oh really? Who is this 'cool' guy?" Kathryn humoured her
"He's new here, he said he's from the south? I think so anyway. He's very polite, that's what mommy says anyway. They were discussing finding him a girlfriend! Isn't that gross! Coodies!" Kathryn laughed
"Are you afraid of coodies?" she giggled, Cassie just stuck her tongue out,
"I'm not afraid of anything!" she said in defence.
"We know and that is what makes you a handful," Mrs. Durley sighed,
"Time to go munchkin." Mrs. Durley said,
"Are you causing Mrs. Durley problems again?" Kathryn joked, setting her down on the ground again,
"Of course she is i'm starting to think it's her job," Mrs. Durley joked, Cassie waved as she and Mrs. Durley walked away,
"He's still cool! Go talk to him!" Cassie yelled back giggling.
"Cool guy, he must be something to get everyones attention so well," Kathryn mumbled to herself, and turning around, she bumped into a hard chest.
"Oh! I'm sorry!" she exclaimed taking a step back, and looking up into the face of a young man,
"It's ok," the man laughed, Kathryn noticed that miss Mary was standing next to him glaring at her,
"Ah Mary, nice to see you," She said sarcasticly,
"Yes, wonderful," Miss Mary said with a fake smile trying to sound cheery for the man,
"You should really watch where you are going Kathryn, you might hurt someone." Kathryn sighed mixed with a light laugh,
"Right, how inconcederite i'm being," she turned her head away from the two and rolled her eyes, she noticed that the mayor was coming toward them, and her face went pale. She quickly turned back to avoid eye contact,
"Right, i'd better be going before i keep you to long Mary, and... umm.. Captain?" the man nodded confusedly but didn't protest. Kathryn practically ran between Mary and the captain, and out of the village into the fields around it.
*~*~*~*~* Main house (change room)
"Alley! I demand that you leave the Captain alone!" Miss Mary yelled from the other side of the room, Kathryn just rolled her eyes, they used given names at work but otherwise didn't in the change room or outside of work.
"I didn't touch him, your majesty," sarcasim dripped from her voice as she turned to look at "Mary"
"You where eyeing him and it was disgusting," was her proud answer,
"Really? You think that was gross? You where hanging off of him like the pethetic whore you are, Katrina" Alley snapped back, Katrina stood angrily glaring at Alley,
"Well at lest i have a chance to get married in this place unlike little miss, i have to be single,"
"I prefer it that way, it isn't as annoying,"
"The mayor will fix you, you know he has been looking for people to marry you off to," Alley rolled her eyes at this,
"Of course i know, who doesn't?"
"The Captain doesn't, and i like it that way,"
"Oh you would simply die if the mayor married us wouldn't you? You wouldn't have your perfect husband," Katrina steamed, then turned around to go back to her locker,
"It's not like your much compitition Al," she yelled over her shoulder, Alley quickly got dressed in her normal blue jeans bullet belt, and off the shoulder top that flares at the sleaves. She pulled her hair back in a pony tail and put her stone necklass on and her silver bangles around her wriste, then she went to the mirror and drew a quick design with black lipstick down her cheek and neck,
"Lovely," she said to herself and with a wave to the other ladies left the change room.
*~*~*~*~* Parking lot
"Alley!" A man's voice boomed over the parking lot, were everyone was filing out, only a few turists turned there heads to see what the comotion was but the works agnored it used to it by now. Alley let out a suffering sigh and turned to look back at the mayor/owner of the village,
"Hi, Mr. Tudio, how can i help you today?" she said sweetly,
"You can stop avoiding me all the time!" she looked slightly winded and angry, "I finally found you someone to marry at work and i can't even tell you." Alley took a step back at this,
"Y-you alre-re-ady decided?" she stuttered, her eye growing wide as she looked at him,
"No," Alley let out the breath she was holding, "I thought you should meet him first, so i've set up a few dates for you," Alley jaw hung open,
"Hey you can't just set me up with random people, i have work and-"
"I will give you time off just for this," he cut her off waving his hand as if it was nothing, "I've decided that you don't have to get married sense your so bent out of shape about it." Alley sighed in relief, then narrowed her eyes suspiously,
"Then what is with the blind dates?" Mr. Tudio smiled,
"I thought instead of the marrage thing you could be a love sick romantic left behind as her love goes out over the seas." Alley's eyes widened in shock, her jaw falling even more as she looked at him with disbelief,
"Your kidding right?"
"No i am not, you have one week, then you are going on a date per day with three young men of my choice," he turned around and walked toward his car,
"But that isn't fair, i don't want to be a love sick freak!"
"You have one week," he yelled over his shoulder. Alley's shoulders slumped back and she looked like a lost puppy,
"Why me?" she asked the air around her, "Why is it always me?" She turned around in a slight daze and walked up to her red sports car unlocking the door and sitting down in the drivers seat she pressed the botton to put the top down. With a sigh she turned the radio on, blasting the music, and backed up out of the parking lot heading to her apartment.
