*A Tale Of Two Boys*
~Introduction~
Sora, and Riku were always best friends but when a new girl showed up on the island, secrets are revealed, relationships discovered, adventures started, and stories created……and ended.
~Chapter One~
Sora and Riku had lived happily on the island together, as best friends. They also played with the other young boys, Tidus and the oldest, Wakka. There was also a girl living on the island, her name was Selphie. Because she was the only girl on the island, she often isolated herself and watched the sunset or watched the boys duel with wooden swords. Sometimes she would take her old jump rope and duel Sora. Selphie secretly liked Sora, but he didn’t know that, and when he kicked her butt at a duel she normally was very upset. She didn’t like being the weakest link, the munchkin, the wimp, and the wuss out of all the boys. Sora, on the other hand, didn’t like Selphie very much. She was all girly, and she hardly talked to him and the other boys. He wanted to meet someone who isn’t afraid to act boyish, or at least talk to boys. Riku wasn’t too fond of Selphie either. He practically ignored her, except when she bugged him about how she really likes Sora and wants him to talk to her and stuff. How boring! There isn’t much to say about Wakka and Tidus, they just mostly keep to themselves and they seem to be fond of Selphie.
“Riku! RIKKKKUUUU?!?!” Sora called.
“What, Sora? I bet the whole island could hear you!”
“Why does Selphie keep mentioning the Paopu Fruit to me?”
“That’s easy, she likes you!”
Sora shuttered to hear that sentence.
“Ewwww…. I think she’s gross!”
“Heh.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing. It’s just funny that she’s the only girl on this whole entire island and she’s not even pretty.”
“RIKU!!!!” Selphie exclaimed, “THAT’S MEAN!”
“Crap!” Riku said as he ran into the secret place that Sora and him always hid in when they avoided Selphie. Sora managed to get past Selphie and lose her before giving away the secret spot.
“Did we lose her?” Riku said panting.
“I think so.” Sora said quickly as he tried to catch his breath. Suddenly they heard thunder, and saw the flash of lightning on the cave walls.
“Riku, I think there’s a storm, we should get home.”
“Yeah, lets go.”
They both headed out and were surprised to see Selphie standing outside the cave.
“GUYS!!! I’m not mad at you, but I tried to warn you that a bad storm is coming, we’re even expecting a meteor shower in a few minutes!”
“A meteor shower?” Sora questioned, “on a day like this?”
“Hmmmmm,” Riku thought.
Selphie took off, probably headed home with Tidus and Wakka. Sora and Riku wanted to stay, no matter how bad the storm was, they were curious to see what the meteor shower looked like. Suddenly, a loud crackle of thunder sent them behind a tree.
“Riku, lets just sit by the cave entrance so we don’t get killed!”
“Yeah, good idea!” Riku said timidly.
As the boys watched the meteor shower, they were less afraid of the thunder and lightning, but more interested in the show. Sora was looking at the meteor shower’s reflection on the water when he spotted a body.
“Riku, look!” Sora said as he pointed to the body on the sand by the water.
“Oh my god, it’s a person!!!”
They both ran to the person’s rescue. As they got closer, they noticed that it was a girl; she was about Sora’s age. Her eyes opened slowly and then she fell into a deep sleep again. When she awoke, she saw the two boys in the cave hovering over her to see if she was okay.
“Where am I?” She said, sitting up slightly.
“Destiny Islands,” Sora answered,” what’s your name?”
“Kairi.” She said hesitantly
“I’m Riku, and this is by best friend, Sora.” Riku explained.
“Ummmmm….nice to meet you.” Kairi said.
After that night Kairi began to feel at home on the island, and Selphie was so happy to finally have another girl on the island! Its too bad Kairi didn’t really like Selphie; she was more interested in the boys who had rescued her. Sora and Riku always asked her where she was from, but she always said that she had forgotten, she was sure that it was far away from the island. Ever since Kairi joined the friendship group, Riku and Sora have been competing with the same goal in mind: to impress Kairi. Kairi kind of enjoyed watching them try and impress her, but she also liked them because most of the time they were themselves around her. She noticed that Riku won most of the competitions, Sora seemed to be jealous of Riku…..but in a way….he admired Riku, she was puzzled by Sora’s thoughts.
“Sora,” Kairi started, “ummm this may sound weird…but….tell me what you think about Riku.”
“Uh, I guess Riku is a cool guy…and ummmm…he’s really strong….” He smiled as he said this, “ummmm his hair is cool and ummm yeah…I don’t know.”
“Hehe,” Kairi chuckled.
“What?!” Sora exclaimed
“Nothing….nothing at all…” Kairi said before slowly turning away from Sora.
“Riku, what do you think of Sora?” she smiled as she asked this question.
“Well…..he’s an idiot…but he’s my idiot….ummmm he sucks at dueling….umm he seems to impress Selphie…..ummm he’s kind of funny…ummm he’s immature….ummmm and he likes you.”
“Hehe….” Kairi giggled as she heard Riku’s response.
“What? What’s so funny, Kairi?!?!” Riku asked with a surprised look on his face.
“Every time Sora talks about you he smiles and blushes….same thing happens when you talk about Sora.” She said raising one eyebrow playfully.
“Wait. You think Sora and I are…..OH MY GOD!!! Kairi!!! No way!!! Oh my god! And to think I thought you wouldn’t surprise me anymore, Kairi! Haha, that’s a good one!” Riku tried to hide his rosy cheeks but Kairi caught him red-handed…er…faced.
“Okay then, Riku…..I’ll have you know that Sora likes you.” Kairi then turned around, and walked off, hoping her plan would work.
“KAIRI! WAIT!! COME BACK! HE DOES?!” Riku called…..Kairi’s plan had worked!
“Yes, Riku?” She said slowly
“Does Sora actually like me, I mean not that I like him too….but not saying I don’t I mean ummmm well Sora’s interested in me!!!???” Riku barely stuttered.
“Hehe, yes Riku, Sora really likes you…..in fact I bet if you tell him you like him too he’ll give you a kiss!” Kairi teased. She didn’t have to say any more, Riku was already half way across the beach, making his way to Sora.
“Sora!” Riku called, “Kairi says you like me, I just came to tell you that……I like you too….a lot….please go out with me!”
“Really? I always thought you liked Kairi! Yes I will go out with you!” Sora said as he jumped onto Riku and hugged him, so that Riku was supporting Sora’s body.
“Sora..” Riku whispered into Sora’s ear romantically.
“Yes Riku?” Sora said back.
“I love you, Sora….I really do….”
“I love you, too Riku…” Sora said as he hugged Riku tighter. A loud noise caused Riku and Sora to fall over. It was Selphie….
“Omg, guys!!! I never knew you liked each other!!! Can I watch?” Selphie said excitedly.
“Watch what?” Riku and Sora said
“HEHEHE…You know what….” Selphie giggled
“EWWW GROSS SICKO!!!” Kairi, Sora, and Riku screamed.
“Awww you guys are no fun!” Selphie skipped off to Wakka and Tidus
“Damn she’s gross.” Riku said.
“Well, Sora, Riku, what should we do now?” Kairi asked after watching Selphie skip into the distance.
“Lets finish our raft!!!” Sora exclaimed
“Great idea, airhead” Riku said with a smile. Riku picked up a nearby coconut and tossed it into a bin by the raft supplies.
“Okay, lets get started!” Kairi said, picking up a material sheet “Riku, I need you to get: clean water, 2 more coconuts, and 4 pieces of wood”
“Okay,” he said as he walked to get the supplies.
“Sora, you need to get me: 1 barrel, 6 fish, and 4 wooden poles. I’m going to get: 3 bananas, 3 towels, and 12 seashells.” Kairi said as she put the sheet of paper down next to a pen to check off with.
“Okay.” Sora said as he rushed off to find a barrel.
An hour or two later, Sora, Riku and Kairi were all packed and ready to go. The only problem was that they didn’t know what to name the raft or who the captain would be.
“Okay, what should we name it?” Kairi asked
“Highwind!” Sora exclaimed
“Excalibur” Riku suggested
“Okay….ummmm lets name it…..ummm” Kairi said as she thought
“Riku!” said Sora as he pointed in the horizon
“What?” Riku said as he turned his head
“Oh no!” Kairi said as they stared at a huge storm…
“We better get our raft to safety!” cried Sora
“Hey, guys!! Take cover!! My mom says it’s a hurricane!!” Selphie called from halfway across the island
“We don’t have much time, Kairi, get in the cave. Sora and I will drag the raft and stuff in.” Riku said, staring at the approaching storm.
“But…Riku….” Kairi protested
“GO!!” Riku yelled
“Be careful…” Kairi said as she ran towards the cave. The storm was approaching fast. It was almost to the island. Sora and Riku dragged the raft to the entrance of the cave, and pushed it in. Sora realized he forgot something, and as he went to get it, the storm struck.
“SORA!!!” Riku said, grabbing Sora and pulling his body back into the cave.
“I need it!! I forgot it!!” he said, reaching his arms out in frustration
“What did you forget! What is it?” Riku asked in a loud voice
“Kairi’s lucky charm!!!” he yelled as it was washed away
“It’s okay Sora,” Riku said as he hugged Sora and calmed him down.
“Guys…what’s this? I don’t remember a door here!” Kairi said staring at a mysterious door at the cave’s end. Sora and Riku turned and walked to where Kairi was. The door looked strange and for some reason, it gave Sora and Riku a bad feeling. The storm outside hissed and thundered and sprayed water into the cave. Riku and Sora saw a large boulder and moved it in front of the opening of the cave. It covered the whole entrance, now shielding the kids from the deadly storm.
“It’s cold in here.” Sora shivered and sat on a rock.
”It’s late, we should get some rest…the storm should be over soon.” Riku said as he laid down in a corner of the cave. Sora and Kairi walked over there and laid close together. Kairi, Riku, and Sora cuddled up and fell asleep.

“What use is this? A charm? Those fools!” said a female voice, tossing a seashell charm onto the floor. “Namine! Where is the keyblade master?” the voice called again, shaking a small blonde girl in a white dress. The girl showed her a picture of a cave with markings. Three children lay inside, asleep.
“It won’t be long now…” the voice chuckled in an evil way.
“Don’t hurt them!!!!” Namine, suddenly cried. A hooded figure turned and removed its’ hood, revealing its identity.
“Oh, don’t worry, I’ll take good care of them. As soon as Axel gets back from his mission, we should be able to strike.” The female said.
“Larxene!! I…mmmph!” Namine protested, only to have her mouth covered.
“I advise you to shut your mouth, little girl. You’ve just set not only your fate, but Sora’s too.” Larxene smiled cruelly. Namine’s eyes widened when she realized the situation.

“Sora? Soooooooorrrrrraaaaaaa?” Kairi called
Sora opened his eyes to find Kairi hovering over him and smiling.
“Don’t scare me like that, Kairi!” Sora laughed
“Hehehehe…” Kairi giggled
“Well, well, well” Riku joked, ”Sora’s awake!!! However did you manage to do that, Kairi?!” Sora stood up and asked if they could push the rock back and go outside.
“Yeah, we should be able to. C’mon Sora, come help me.” Riku uncrossed his arms and walked to the large boulder.
“HMMMMMMPH…” Sora and Riku groaned as the pushed the heavy boulder away from the entrance. They all gasped in harmony as they looked upon the outside lands.

“Roxas!” Hayner called as he waved a hand. Roxas walked over to his trio of friends. He’d always been friends with Hayner, Pence, and Olette. Hayner, the leader, ruled the friendship with his attitude and big ego. Pence, the friendly, ice-cream-loving, follower was always up for some sea-salt ice cream for celebrations. Olette, the nice and, “to the point” girl always liked to hang out with the boys and explore Twilight Town. And then there’s me, Roxas. I’m the quiet one, Hayner’s opposite and his best friend. We were headed to the sandlot for our struggle battle! Hayner and I made a deal so that, no matter who wins, all four of us split the prize. So one of us has gotta win!! The announcer stepped up to go over rules, and all that boring stuff. In the first round, I was called up to face Hayner.
“Ready? GO!!!” the announcer yelled. Hayner lunged at me and I dodged with a leap backwards. Then I made an attack and blue struggle bulbs went flying. Hayner quickly recovered and ran towards me. I blocked his attacks and struck again. The announcer motioned that the Struggle fight was over. I was declared the winner!!
“WOO!! GO ROXAS!!” Pence and Olette cheered. After a few more battles, I was up again, to fight Seifer. After winning that battle, I was declared the champion of this year’s Struggle battle!! I was handed a trophy, and after escaping the large crowd that had formed around me, I reached my friends.
”That was a great match, Roxas!” Olette smiled
“Yeah, great job, Roxas..” Hayner said, crossing his arms and pouting.
“Hey, lets go celebrate with some sea salt ice cream!” Pence said excitedly.
We walked off to get ice cream, while Vivi, Seifer, Fuu and Rai sat, disappointed at the outcome of the match.

Olette, the nice and, “to the point” girl always liked to hang out with the boys and explore Twilight Town. And then there’s me, Roxas. I’m the quiet one, Hayner’s opposite and his best friend. We were headed to the sandlot for our struggle battle! Hayner and I made a deal so that, no matter who wins, all four of us split the prize. So one of us has gotta win!! The announcer stepped up to go over rules, and all that boring stuff. In the first round, I was called up to face Hayner.
“Ready? GO!!!” the announcer yelled. Hayner lunged at me and I dodged with a leap backwards. Then I made an attack and blue struggle bulbs went flying. Hayner quickly recovered and ran towards me. I blocked his attacks and struck again. The announcer motioned that the Struggle fight was over. I was declared the winner!!
“WOO!! GO ROXAS!!” Pence and Olette cheered. After a few more battles, I was up again, to fight Seifer. After winning that battle, I was declared the champion of this year’s Struggle battle!! I was handed a trophy, and after escaping the large crowd that had formed around me, I reached my friends.
”That was a great match, Roxas!” Olette smiled
“Yeah, great job, Roxas..” Hayner said, crossing his arms and pouting.
“Hey, lets go celebrate with some sea salt ice cream!” Pence said excitedly.
We walked off to get ice cream, while Vivi, Seifer, Fuu and Rai sat, disappointed at the outcome of the match.
