Chapter 3 - Magic Puddle
Magic Puddle
~By Kat ~
You may think I have gone
But you really don't understand
That im alright, im fine
But just living in another land…
Here the grass is always green
The sun is always out.
It is nice and peaceful
I've got too many socks to count!
By the way, Dixie's here too
She was sitting there, waiting
I told her that you still loved her
And she sat there, contemplating.
“Yes I know” she stated blinking.
I was confused. “How do you know?” I asked,
Clearly not thinking.
She laughed good naturedly and shook her head
“Because I've listened to what they've said.”
I was still not getting it
But then it hit me.
“I can see my family??” I said,
tail wagging impulsively.
Her eyes grew misty as she responded,
“No im sorry…you can't”
My tail drooped to between my legs as I hung my head down low
For now, I knew I was separated from my family
Dixie came over to me, and pawed at my fur playfully
“Now, now, now no need to fuss; I guess I could show you some…but not much…”
I leapt to my feet eagerly and followed as my curiosity
Was enticing me
I panted eagerly
What I would see!
We finally got to what looked like
A shiny puddle of water
And she looked in it then over at me
I blinked and spoke, and then off guard I caught her.
“What are we doing here for? Shouldn't we be off somewhere less a bore?”
She glanced at me, then continued staring
Into that massive water puddle.
I still didn't understand
How anyone could be so stubborn?
I finally gave up, sitting down
On my haunches with tail curled
She glanced at me over her shoulder
and shifted over abit.
“Come over here, come on closer…” She said.
I obeyed and padded over and sat next to that old dog.
She turned her gaze back to the water, and so did I after a moment longer.
My eyes widened to what I saw
I blinked again and blinked once more
Trying my hardest to focus on it, eyes growing sore.
In the puddle, I saw my family,
Still sad about my passing.
One girl standing by my ashes, mourning and talking to me.
My eyes weld up with tears as I saw her
I wanted to go back
I wanted to be once more, running down the road a white blur.
But Dixie had made it clear
That no matter how much I want it
I will never be able to…and what fell from my eyes; a single tear.
Dixie sighed and stared lovingly at the family she once knew but still loved.
“Things have changed since I left…” She muttered almost to herself.
I nodded and I turned away, sad to never return, due to my current location `above'
She too padded away, but not a sad as I
No, she did not look ready to cry
I walked with her over the green, green fields
Questioning about the magic puddle,
And if my fate is sealed
She turned to me once more a glistening in her eye
She blinked and smiled and then she said,
“There is no need to cry; yes you're gone from you're family, as am I, you know that…but someday soon we will re-unite with our loved ones…you can count on that.”
So now that you have heard my simple little story,
Please don't cry
Nor do you worry
For someday I will meet you again,
Do not weep
Do not plead
Do not start sobbing…
For I love you…
Love,
Bobby
