Chapter 1 - Mirror
We spend all our life
Seeing ourselves as we want to.
Looking in the mirror
We see what we are
But never who we are.
Because without meaning to,
You strip away the flaws
In your mind
And replace them
With a cloak of lies.
But the farther you get
From the mirror,
The more that cloak
Begins to fade away.
And although we
Are predisposed to ignore it
Others are not so blinded
And see us for who we are.
And that tell-tale mirror
Can do nothing to stop it.
And if we have friends
Brave and true enough
To lend us their mirror,
We will know,
And be well pleased
With them, because
The only way to see yourself
Is through someone elses eyes
