Blog Entry: World of GeneX - Guard the Gargoyle
Guard is a gargoyle appearing in the awesome style of the Sonic Adventure series. Like most gargoyles in the GeneX series, Guard is furry, his fur color being dark green. He has big, broad wings, a long tail ending in an arrow-point, and horns on his head. He has strips of light blue fur along his sides, blue eyes, and red gloves and shoes. At all times, he carries a special scythe that can fire energy beams from its blade. It is not visibly apparent, but he is an android.
Guard, AKA Experiment 6, was created under orders from Sgt. Richard Gunner, who had captured his creator, Bucky Stein. Gunner wanted an obediant soldier to keep a vigil over the cell of Experiment 2, Copter, who had also been captured. Bucky obeyed, and Gunner sent Dr. Nammad to assist in the creation of the experiment, to keep an eye on Bucky and ensure there would be no funny business. Little did he know, Nammad and Bucky have a past history, and he allowed Bucky to implant programming inside Guard to make him loyal to his creator. He is also programmed to obey Gunner, however.
After failing to prevent Copter's escape, Guard vanished for a time, temporarily joining Vortex and Zipp in their quest to free their creator from a prison aboard Space Colony ARK. After this, he returned to Gunner's side, and has been his servant, more or less, ever since. His primary mission is to capture the other experiments in the name of GUN, but he refuses to harm Bucky.
In GeneX- Soleanna Struggle, Guard is revealed to be seemingly immortal, surviving into the distant future thanks to his android parts. Despite this, he meets his end in battle with Losipher, a terrible demon of the Lost Ones who sought to overpower Iblis and conquer the bleak future. The Guard of the past later overcame his programming, defying Gunner and journeying to the future, where he and Gemini nearly destroyed Losipher.
Due to the timeline being reset, Guard once more works for Gunner. He has endured much in GUN's service, including having his android brain invaded by a feline virus named Firepaw! Despite his unswerving loyalty to Gunner, he can be counted on when the world is in jeapordy, and has aided in battles against Kosmo, Solaris, and the Time Eater.

Guard is one of my favorites, and from what little I know of my readers, I am also led to believe that he is a reader favorite. He has probably the coolest design I ever managed, he can fly (take that, most of the cast), and he's part robot. I like playing with that part-robot idea when I can, like when I stick a hologram projector in his eyes. He's not fully robot, though; He bleeds and he dies.
Though he doesn't seem complicated on the surface, he's probably the most conflicted character in the series. GUN makes him hunt his creator and all his "brothers and sisters," and Gunner would probably see them killed once caught. He's stuck, programmed to obey this sicko who doesn't even view him as a real person. He's named Guard because that's all Gunner ever called him. (and now you know, in case I failed to ever put that in story)
Plus, his physician is Dr. Nammad. No wonder he snapped in Soleanna Struggle. Kinda makes you wonder why he hasn't snapped yet in the main reality.
By the way, if you are reading this and never read GeneX before... Guard growls. All the time. I just feel I should say that somewhere. (lol) It kind of defines his character. I guess... he's always ticked. Even when he's happy. Have we ever seen Guard happy???
