Blog Entry: World of GeneX - Fera the Wolf
Fera is a dark grey wolf, with a light grey muzzle and a single red eye. Her other eye (the right) is covered by long hair, and is apparently damaged under that hair. She wears tight, black suits, usually the Covenant of Despair uniform, and dark red shoes. Her tail is perhaps unusually big and bushy for a wolf, but her serious nature is perfectly suited to her species.
She despises humans, and her every action throughout the series is part of an effort to further her vendetta against them. Her first appearance was in GeneX: Soleanna Struggle, where she worked as an independent agent rather than an Agent of Despair. During this story, she was recruited by Mephiles, told that his plan was to create a new world without humans. So unwilling was Fera to accept the truth of Mephiles's dark designs, that just as Elise was blowing out Solaris's flame to prevent Iblis and Mephiles from ever existing, she stole the Time Stones and journeyed further back in time to see that an ember from the flame would survive. She is responsible for Mephiles's return in GeneX Generations, though the present timeline's version of her has no memory of this.
Most commonly, Fera is seen working for the Covenant of Despair. She worked her way up since the time of Soleanna Struggle, and is now a high ranking agent in the organization, respected by all the members. She is trained in dark magic, and it is her job to train new recruits in this skill as well.
She has an eye for potential recruits, and was responsible for Violet's joining the covenant, as well as equiping Punchy with the Despair Seal. Her calculating mind was also the first to realize that Kosmo probably didn't have the covenant's interests at heart as well. Her tale is not yet over, and we'll be doing a second episode on this crafty she-wolf in the future, so stay tuned.
Author Commentary!
As I said, I need to revisit this character in another episode. There are aspects of her character that are still not... ready to be discussed yet. Perhaps I will, in fact, cover this in another character's article rather than doing a second Fera article... but that wouldn't seem fair to that other character, would it?
Many plot elements relating to Fera are actually coming in the future. She's very important, probably the first proper Covenant of Despair agent in the series. She was an agent of despair before I even knew what the Covenant of Despair was.
Also... she's a much-needed female character who happens to be serious. Most of my females are a bit...goofy... Like Rainbow and Whisk. Even Gemini can be a bit of a klutz. Not so with Fera. Shame I couldn't do a strong female and NOT make her a villain... Well, that's what Blaze is for, isn't it? Maybe I needed a villainess to balance out the likes of Amy, Blaze and Rouge, huh?
