Blog Entry: World of GeneX - Heather the Phoenix
Heather the Phoenix is a red bird that wears a black jacket with orange stripes. She wears yellow pants, shoes with a fiery coloration, and has orange-red eyes. She is Experiment 7, the first of the Experiments created after Bucky the Rat's escape from GUN custody, and the first female experiment.
*ALERT: Major Spoilers for GeneX: Soleanna Struggle Ahead!*
During his initial days on the run from GUN, Bucky hid out at Soleanna for a time. Apparently, he knew the king of Soleanna somehow! At least, this is his claim. As fate would have it, Bucky ended up working on the Solaris Project. As a result, he left Soleanna with an ember from the flames of disaster. This he would later use in his experiment to create a phoenix.
Unfortunately, he left Heather with Zipp for orientation. The hornet's cynical point of view filled Heather with rage, and she escaped Bucky's lab in a fury, seemingly killing Experiment 11 during the fiery launch. Losing control of her rage like this would leave Heather frightened of her own power for the duration of the story, realizing that it was actually Dark Heather controlling her. (This comes with the revelation that each experiment actually has a dark form.)
During the adventure in Soleanna, Copter arrives and attempts to aid her, but the evil forces of Dr. Eggman, Sgt. Gunner, and Mephiles the Dark all want to use her power for their own sinister ends, and Bucky is seeking to bring her back home as well. Making matters worse, Vortex the Chameleon wants revenge for Experiment 11's supposed death, and plots to kill Heather.
It all comes to a climax when Heather fully realizes what she has done, and intends to allow Vortex to drown her by crashing the Egg Carrier into the ocean (which will kill Elise as well, supposedly). However, Copter encounters Experiment 11, Whisk the Divine, who isn't dead, and rushes to save Heather and reveal that she isn't a murderer after all. Of course, Whisk doesn't cooperate, and Vortex doesn't believe Copter without evidence, so as the ship begins to crash, Copter fights a climactic battle against Vortex and Zeke the Dragon.
All of this is rendered moot when Mephiles fuses with Iblis. However, Heather is revealed to have the power to overcome Solaris's time control, with the help of the Time Stones. Using them, she opens the path for Sonic and Elise to blow out Solaris's flame in the path. But... Fera the wolf has other plans. She nabs the Time Stones and sees that Bucky gets his embers after all...
This leads Bucky to accidentally create Mephiles along with Heather, having missed out on the Solaris Project in the new timeline. Long story short (TOO LATE!), Mephiles fuses with Heather to create a creature called Solenix, and though Super Sonic, Super Copter, and Super Gemini try to stop it, it has Heather's power of immortality. It is then that Copter from the other timeline appears, AKA Dimentime, and uses Gemini's magic wand from the other timeline to awakon Heather's original memories. This leads Heather to sacrifice herself to destroy Solenix. (you really have to read it at length to get it, I think...)
However, that was not the end for Heather.
The Darkseeker heard the stories of Solenix, and sent Demon Island to Soleanna one day. The mission was a salvage mission.
Somehow, his team managed to locate Heather's body. Even more miraculously, they restored her to life! It is not currently known what their plans for her were, but before those plans could be set in motion, it seems Guard found her, and was ordered by Col. Gunner to capture her! (These are events from recent chapters of GeneX - Knuckles the Echidna.)
Heather also appears in GeneX Generations, which takes place after GeneX - Knuckles the Echidna. Here, she seems to still retain some of the memories Dimentime planted in her mind. As a result, does it seem she harbors some... feelings for Dimentime...?

Heather is the reason I was stuck doing a Sonic 06 story. Plus she's immortal, so go ahead and throw stones at her. I'll join you. I'm mad that I had to do Sonic 06, too. Probably lost a lot of potential readers doing that.
So sue me. I hadn't played Sonic 06 yet. And Sonic "fans" had a long history of overreacting to every Sonic game that came out. All I knew was that the trailers were awesome. No way this game could suck. So I wrote GeneX: A New Beginning to lead into Soleanna Struggle, planning to write that story as soon as I played the game.
Needless to say, I never did something quite that stupid again... Well, GeneX Chronicles. Well, expecting I'd finish GKTE someday. Well, Mario & Sonic spin-offs. Shut up.
Honestly, though, Soleanna Struggle is my masterpiece. If you never read it, you should. That summery I put there? It leaves A LOT out. Gemini & Punchy both have their own whole sagas in it. I put Eggman Nega & the Babylon Rogues in. The Time Stones are relatively well featured although it doesn't really make much sense that they're away from Little Planet... I never liked Sonic CD anyway. *GAAAAAAAAAAASP* Okay, simmer down. I just think it's overrated is all. I also filled in Sonic 06's plot holes quite nicely, as long as you ignore my Time Stone plot hole that I just pointed out. And personally, I think Soleanna Struggle was Vortex's best performance in the GeneX series. When I do his article, you can bet this story will pop up again.
We'll be seeing more of Heather soon. I want to give her character some well-deserved updating. No more of this damsel-in-distress nonsense. She's immortal, dammit! What's she scared of?? Besides water?
