Blog Entry: World of GeneX - Blaze the Cat
This episode of World of GeneX will explore the strange case of Blaze the Cat, and shed light on the mysteries of exactly how her storyline works... In the GeneX world, anyway.
The beginning - Sonic Rush
Blaze begins her existence as the guardian of the Sol Emeralds, a collection of gems that exists in... the future! Eggman Nega takes these gems away to the present, causing a time paradox. The two Eggman never expressly say this, but they do vaguely say that their worlds are "linked" and that the Chaos Emeralds and Sol Emeralds "are like the North and South magnetic poles." Exactly what that second statement means is still a mystery.
A different dimension - Sonic 06 / GeneX-Soleanna Struggle
During the events in Soleanna, Mepliles's references to the "blue hedgehog" obviously stir up memories for Blaze. Now her future world has been devastated by Iblis, and Eggman Nega has designs on the Time Stones. Ultimately, Blaze needs to seal away Iblis within her soul. The power of two Chaos Emeralds enable this, but she also still has the Sol Emeralds on her person, turning her into Burning Blaze to ease the strain as her soul absorbs Iblis. Not knowing if she will survive (and Iblis escape), and realizing Silver won't do this himself, Blaze uses the Sol Emeralds to send herself to a new dimension... one separate from this timeline, that is unaffected when the limeline resets.
Eggman Nega to a different dimension - Sonic Rivals 2
In the ending of this game, Eggman Nega is trapped in the Ifrit's dimension. He never returns to his own time, but does find his way to Blaze's new dimension...
A New Venture - Sonic Rush Adventure
Blaze has now settled in as the princess of her new domain, which is inhabited by koalas and a certain raccoon. Sonic pays her a visit here and thinks this is the same place she came from in Sonic Rush. They battle the pirate Captain Whisker, who turns out to be just another minion of Eggman and Eggman Nega.
Ripples in Time - Sonic & GeneX Generations
Blaze is found in Crisis City by Sonic, but soon discovers Mephiles in the white world, who she still recognizes. Filled with fury at the realization that Mephiles played Silver and her for fools before, she chases after him. Mephiles soon coaxed her into going near another who harbored Iblis's flames inside her: Heather. The two pyrokinetics then reacted to one another, resulting in Iblis being ressurrected! However, after a battle with the creature, Heather and Blaze joined forces to reseal Iblis in Blaze's soul once again. Blaze later helped in the final battles with Time Eater and Temporal Emperor Mephiles before returning to Sonic's world to finish his birthday celebration. She is currently back home in her new dimension, dubbed the Sol Dimension since it houses the Sol Emeralds.
Author Commentary!
World of GeneX is winding down. I'm getting all of the important articles done, and then ending the series. Mainly because I feel these articles really aren't having the intended effect... But anyway, there are still several to go before it ends.
So, this has been the complete (more or less) story of Blaze the Cat, including mild explanation of Eggman Nega, too. Silver, he's always from the future. No explanation necessary. He and Blaze meet up at the Olympics one year, or at some other gathering that Sonic invited them both to, thus explaining why they keep appearing together despite living worlds and centuries apart. Plus, Blaze already knows him, she never forgot him.
For the most part, I think my solution works for the games as well, but Sega could always toss a wrench in the theory. So I decided this is purely a GeneX explanation, allowing me to use Silver, Blaze and Eggman Nega in stories without fear of Sega screwing me over. GeneX is a separate reality now. I think I have enough stories under my belt to say that.
