I like how the four generals or kings are participating in the hunt for energy and the silver crystal at the same time instead of one having to die before the next does anything. A few of the characters both good and bad have slightly different personalities with Rei being the most noticeable and Beryl being another. She seems less angry somehow.
When Nephrite announced his plot of using love to steal human energy, or at least the brainwashed perception of love, given that Naru was photographed in a wedding dress early in the episode, attending a fitting for her cousin, I hoped that their short bittersweet romance was given a place in the new series. It doesn't look like it'll happen though, as Nephrite sees Makoto's defiant look later during their battle, noting that he has seen it before. His reaction was noting like Jedite's creeper moment with Rei, but I'm perceiving that the inner senshi are being set up with the four kings. In the manga, as far as I know, they were originally on Mamoru's side during their past life. If the pattern continues it would place Zoicite with Amy and Malachite with Minako.
Makoto's strength, cooking skills and pretty earrings are mentioned just like in the original, though there's no crane game Joe character of the day or rainbow crystals. Motoki, alias Andrew, is confirmed as a college student, while Momoru is in high school. I had always pictured them as being the same age in the original, both in college. Usagi calls Motoki Onii-san, she doesn't seem to have much of a crush on him in this version. I didn't get to see Jedite this time, so I spent the episode fangirling Motoki. Somehow I never noticed him much in the original since he has a pretty small role.
Nephrite controls wedding dress clad mannequins to brainwash men and steal their energy. Makoto was about to be captured, tricked by a brainwashed Motoki, who ended up fainting and forgetting the whole thing. Tuxedo Mask got Usagi from her house, and had her leave out the window in the pajamas, leaving Luna to worry, though he did lead her to Makoto, which ultimately saved her. Luna called up Mars and Mercury and with the newly awakened Sailor Jupiter's help, Nephrite's plan was stopped. Jupiter has her electric attack like in the original and also rose petal attack that basically works like a razor leaf. I like that they have more variety in their attacks in the remake, it's not a huge difference, but it's something.
In the end Moon got the crescent wand, so we might see her using it soon. The next episode seems to center around Tuxedo Mask, so Venus and Artemis will probably not show up yet, as they weren't in the trailer.
