Final Fantasy XIII

I love the graphics and character design of FF13 but I don't like stories that start with an all out war. It makes it dramatic but not relateable. It might be cliche, but I like seeing the hero's ordinary life first, the classic hero who wishes for adventure and gets more than expected. I can relate to characters like that more easily since I live a pretty ordinary life myself and the whole fight for survival thing feels overly dramatic and distant.
In a sense it sort of imitates FF7 with more than just Lightning being similar to Cloud (but more badass at least so far). But FF7 felt more relateable since we got to see the characters in and out of combat. I'm just getting started, so FF13 might resonate with me yet, it's early, but I like posting my changing impressions as they go along. As for where I am on the game, I played the first segment with Light and the chocobo guy, then with Snow's crew and now I'm back with Light.
The characters do look like they'll get some good development so I'm looking forward to that. The redhead that was with Snow (takes a while for me to learn names) reminded me of Wakka and the group also reminded me of Wedge, Biggs & Jesse if I recall their names correctly. Fillers that get killed, but cool fillers. I laughed at how the girl spent more time posing than shooting, airhead, good thing Light is smarter than that, shoot first and do a victory pose when you actually win.

Oh so Wakka was alive after all. Gadot I mean. Did I mention I can only barely grasp the plot so far. I'm on the part where they talk about Serah, Light did an Assasin's Creed jump and I'm with Snow again.

So Vani & Hope just took off and I still don't have a clear idea what's going on. I know some people hate it, but I like it when there's a short narration with some context. I need to know what's going on to care about what I'm seeing. I'm not very curious for the unknown but I do get curious to know more about things that I know enough to form an interest for. So far this game is riding on pretty graphics alone, which is enough to make me play, but not as memorable as pretty graphics plus a story line. I have to say their hair and outfits are so pretty.
Don't blame Vani for being cheerful despite everything, she has very shiny hair, that would make anyone into an optimist. The world may fall apart, but my hair is still pretty! Jokes aside, pretty hair does contribute to optimism for real. Except I can't quite make mine to be final fantasy level shiny without the use of gloss serum.

Switching between Snow & Light. Hope & Vani met up with Snow. Thanks for the explanations guys, I finally get what's going on, though I would have preferred to know from the start.

Super pretty fireworks.
Entry 006
Oddly named magic users with too many ' in their names.
Entry 007
How does Light run with her blade bouncing against the back of her legs. That looks uncomfortable. Wouldn't it be better to carry that on your back?

Lots of screen shots on Steam.
