Blog Entry: Professional
Some days ago I was looking at a website with some knowledgeable articles in it, paired with cliche advice that I had to roll my eyes at. Yet the technical part was very well done and that needs to be acknowledged. That aside, what caught my attention was how plain and IMO ugly the site was. I didn't expect to find anything interesting because I would assume that the designer would use such codes if they were known. If you do know how to make something amazing, why is your site so plain?
Professional, a word that gets thrown around and I detest. It usually means hypocritical now days, fake. Though the knowledge of that webmaster was undeniable, I only concluded this upon looking at the articles, well the good ones. At a glance I'd say pretense, trying too hard to be overly serious, replacing confidence with superficial appearances, incompetent and trying to hide it. That's what the word means to me now. Not skilled in a profession as it should, but hidden beneath a plain look to cover up a lack of skill. It's overdone, unoriginal, generic, is there even life in this creature? Not biological life, just life. Didn't think so.
