Today's topic came out of nowhere: stuff that bothered you as a kid.
There were 2 things that really bothered me as a child, and one of them can also happen to adults.
Picture this: a mother and daughter run into an acquaintance of the mother at a store. The mother introduces her young daughter, mentioning her name and age for the curious acquaintance. Then the idiot proceeds to switch to a higher tone of voice and say: "Hi sweetie, what's your name? How old are you?"
Seriously? My mother just told you. Are you so stupid that you already forgot? No use in me repeating it then. And what's with the stupid voice?
Young does not equal stupid. You should treat children like intelligent human beings, inexperienced, but not dumb. They are not trained parrots that will say random things for your amusement.
The other thing is when people ask a question even if they don't care about the answer. This happens to adults, though it tends to be more frequent with children. People would ask me about what I was watching or playing as a kid and answer with a stupid "oh" or say something random and generic.
I hate it when people want to get others talking even if they have no intentions of having a conversation or even processing what has been said. If you don't care about the actual message and just want to end the silence, play some music or something.
