Maybe he knew them before his parents got killed? Whatever you can think of, just to establish that Benji's a troublemaker and Taplo's a sweetie. :)

Name: Benjirou (everyone normally calls him Benji or Ben) the River Otter
Age: The same age as Shifu
Born: Nov. 16th
Likes: WATER & SWIMMING, getting in the dirt, wrestling Shifu (he's strong for his age), exploring, fishing (by paw), rain, playing, sliding, and he LOVES eating starfish (which is a true delicacy in Asia)
Dislikes: Girls, rules, soap, bullies who pick on his friends
Fears: He'll tell you he has none, but his biggest fear is lightning.
Personality: A troublemaker, a prankster, bold, mischeivious, playful.
Looks: Primarily brown with beige on his chin, throat, and belly. He has blue eyes and a single beige spot above each eye.
Outfit: Benji is a rice farmer's son and wears a farmer's simple garb of: an orange vest and dark green trousers and sometimes a coolie hat (like Crane's).

Name: Taplo the Chinese
Age: The same age as Shifu
Born: Sep. 2nd
Likes: Climbing rocks, heights, playing, running, exploring, showing off his new horns and ramming things with them, he's not a picky eater but he's a big fan of Shifu's melon buns, heehee.
Dislikes: Being alone, people who threaten his friends, and being dragged into one of Benjirou's wild ideas
Fears: Deep water, darkness
Personality: Shy when meeting new people, playful, generally never in a bad mood, a sweet kid.

About introductions, maybe Shifu finds them in some sort of mess Benjirou got them into. :D

Shifu had been, fittingly, the self-proclaimed leader of the group. Benjirou, the otter pup, was quite the little scamp; mischievous, brazen, and rambunctious. Taplo, the little Chinese goral, could be just as mischievous – but was mainly a very sweet and silent kid.

A goral's a Chinese goat, BTW. :) Goral babies are sooooo cute!!

Umm okay! I'll need alot of information about them first, so I can keep them in personality and stuff.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayzz! So excited you like my story *squeal* Yes! I love making bonding moments between Oogway and Shifu, I'm not fond of unemotional stories, especially when there's reunions with like...NO feeling in them. It's like.
Random pearson: OMIGOSH! Haven't seen you in twenty years! *runs up to the person* *bows* How ya doing?
Other person: *bows back* Nice to see ya!

Like....what the hell?! Where's the feeling in that! Where's the happy tears and big huggy reunions? .........geez. Of course in my stories, Shifu and Oogway occasionally bow to eachother...........obviously. *rolls eyes* And the most affectionate gestures would be pats on the head, unless Shifu is crying over the death of his parents, and cousin. Then Oogway would sort of smooth the fur on his head untill he's calm. The only major Oogway/Shifu bonding moment is in this chapter. http://www.fanart-central.net/chapter-87676.html
