Jessie the Fox is the result of Project: Chaos Merging, another project made by Gerald. The goal was to create a living, breathing Chaos Emerald: in essense, to create a 'friend' for Shadow, who's soul was merged with the Energy of the Chaos Emeralds that he could tap into and use when need be. Gerald decided that this friend would be female, providing a sort of 'mate' for Shadow, at the request of Maria, who felt that Shadow would get too lonely without someone more like him. Started just shortly after Project: Shadow, Project: Chaos Merging was a complete success. However, while still being created, a virus invaded the uncompleted body of the experment (Jessie). While Gerald was able to neturlize the virus, he had to replace her right arm with a metal arm (thus the reason, while it looks completely normal, it's gray) and her eyes with red robotic eyes (this allows her a limited ability to scan robots and creatures, gathering data on them). The project was finished. However, GUN appeared before she could be tested, and Gerald only woke her up partway, awake enough to hear and remember what he said, but not enough to stay awake for very long. His last words to her were: "Take care of Shadow. Make sure that he never fufils the promise I made. And always stay by him, no matter what." (The Promise to Black Doom to bring the 7 Emeralds to him to destory the earth) When GUN invaded, Jessie was still in cryo sleep, and - being seen harmless, as she had no memories except the unknown one - they took her off and stored her in the base, where Shadow was. When Dr. Eggman freed Shadow in SA2B, he also unknowningly freed Jessie, who managed to blend in, unknown, with the city. Since the Chaos Energy is merged with her soul, it's always refreshing itself. However, if this energy ever began to drain from her body on its own accord (meaning it wouldn't replenish itself), unless it was contained or the leak stopped, she'd die. She has a limited ability to recharge herself by absorbing energy from a Chaos Emerald.
