Probably right now the 2nd most popular game on the Wii. But most popular online of course. Did this game really deserve enough hype. Yeah but maybe too much for a rushed game.
The thought about having one fo Nintendo's best AAA series rushed for the 1st time is really scary. Well, they did make big money off of this and that gives me a bad feeling they'll rush again next time. They are lucky this game is selling, probably because of online play.
This series had TONS of potential! Having a game with new and classic tracks is nice but what about MOAR FEATURES?!? There's only a few more character than Double Dash, and not that many karts per character. What about adding perhaps, kart customization, custom tracks(something like TrackMania), a story, LAN play, or even DLC? I would give a Mario Kart with all of these feature a 9.5/10 for sure.
OK, now the good stuff. Multiplayer is still fun but Double Dash remains the multipayer king. As for online, this was the best feature this round, and it really impresses that the Wii can have online play as good as this. This leaderboards, battles, racing, invite friends, and play up to 12 players! The A.I for Grand Prix is ok, somewhat easy, but can get really tough. Getting stars on everything for Grand Prix will take you a while.
As for graphics, there ok. You can tell this part was rushed. Polygons do look noticably worse than Double Dash. But it is pretty colorful and has a nice blur on everything to make some polygon models more smooth looking.
Overall the Mario Kart is still strong as of sales and will definitaly continue. But will they keep rushing them or making them less hardcore? We'll have to see. Honestly, I really want another Kart for the Wii, I want to play a game with MOAR FEATURES!
Score now-8.5/10
