Likes: Slash, yaoi, shounen-ai, boy-smut, Harry Potter, The Bartimaeus Trilogy, The Inheritence Trilogy, singing, reading, writing, sketching, Biology, and animals. Lots and lots o' animals. And cute little seventh graders. Yuuuuum. ^O^

Dislikes: Het, preppy girls, obnoxious boys, my step-dad, my grandmother, Algebra, World Geo., Driver's Ed., and coaches/students who call me 'Rawlings' instead of Jessica.

Future career(s): Major in Computer Engineering, Minor in Art. Possible graphic artist, writer, photographer, and illustrator.

Novel in the works?: Yep. Futuristic, set in 2043. Twenty-two years after the supposed Apocolypse; the catch? It happened. But it wasn't the kind we expected.

EXCERPT:

The Government called it a safeguard. After all, the men and women of the Government did not like taking the privilege of having children away from certain women. It was not something they got a kick out of, or laughed at during the night after a long, fulfilling day of work. It was for their, the general public’s, own welfare. The Government did not support abortion. In fact, it had been outlawed a decade before. No, they did not believe in it.

Instead, they worked out a different system. Women who sought children went to City Hall, and they appealed for the right. If they were in a stable living condition, with a steady income and a promising future for their child, they were granted rights. If not, the jury denied their request and sent them home with a month’s worth of food stamps for their troubles. As it was, not many women were granted rights; nice living quarters and more than a meager amount of money was not a common thing.

But, the Government was non-relenting in its rules. It was a safeguard. It was meant to help prevent the ever-present issue of the homeless, and of world hunger. It was entirely for the people it was founded on, the general public. For what would the great Government be without great people to help it along?

The general public called it thinning the herd.
