Blog Entry: Hello, FC
Well.
It's been a while, hasn't it? My profile says I'm in 9th grade... Well, I'm actually a high school graduate now, and I'll be going to the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland come September. Not bad, huh?
I don't know if I'm on anyone's watchlist anymore. Or rather, anyone who still hangs around FAC. I didn't realize the site added a blog feature while I was gone. So I guess, for anyone reading, I'll talk about myself a bit.
I believe I was in 6th grade when I discovered FAC. I remember that we had just gotten DSL internet. It wasn't high speed, but it wasn't dial-up. And with that, I was able to surf the internet as long as I wanted without blocking the phone line. Oh man, I remember being such a n00b - constantly looking up stuff about cats (do note the username) and stuff to help me beat Spyro and Pokemon games. To this day, I am still notoriously terrible at video games.
I met my first internet friends here. One, I keep up with on Facebook. She knows who she is, and she's still welcome to crash with me for a con. Another, I've lost track of, but I still have her photo, and I'm sure I can pick her trail up again from Youtube. The third (chronologically the first) I still talk to every so often on DeviantART.
I remember the huge names of FAC - I mean, how could you not, they're still at the bottom of the page! Lazycarter's account has been deleted, it seems. Didn't she do a lot of Sailor Moon art? And cstdenis has the TEST story. Is it still popular? I remember adoring DG-Sama's work, and after checking her gallery out a bit, finding myself on Gaia Online. Made myself a nice little home there, I did.
I also remember when the layout was white and blue, all the categories were listed on the left side of the page. I still do actually miss that layout. I thought it was easy to access.
Oooh, look. Stratadrake is still here. His dragons were always crazy awesome, and his little tutorial on how he used Photoshop to change the backgrounds of his pictures contributed to my.... I guess I'd call it a Shopping spree. -sunglasses-
A lot of things about me have changed since I was last really on here, and a lot of things haven't. I'm a much more skilled artist than I was four or five years ago, naturally. But I've fallen out of drawing fanart. The art program I was in frowned on it - the goal was to create our own style after all, and not try to rely on mimicking someone else's. That's something I respect and agree with, especially as I learned about copyrights. So, I just sort of fell out of doing fanart - I guess that's why my stuff goes on DeviantART now, there's not much to put up here anymore.
I'm getting back into fanart a little bit though. Oh, nostalgia kick, the things I drew for Megaman and Jak & Daxter... I'm a fan of Homestuck now, and I've been getting back into anime after not having time to watch it for a while. I'll forever be a fan of Ah My Goddess, but I've also been following the Bleach manga, and more recently, the anime (manga is a fast read for me, and I love the fillers in Bleach). Most recently, I've been watching Ao no Exorcist and Deadman Wonderland. Will fanart of that pop up? Maybe. Most likely, it'll be Homestuck. I have start with the simpler stuff after all, I'm rusty.
I could keep going and going and going.... I remember Reymei's comic, whatever it was called, and getting linked to Earthsong - that just kicked off my whole webcomic hobby. I remember being a huuuuuuuuge fan of Slayers and Megaman (still am, of both series, just a lot more tones down) and....
Oh gosh, I just remember lots of stuff from here.
I guess I'll go update my profile now? Again, I don't know if anyone watches me anymore, or is going to see this.... But if you are, well....
