hahaha. sorry, i don't really know my way around Michigan; i live in Minnesota, land of ten trillion mosquitoes. but borders (www.bordersstores.com) has always been a good place for all manga needs, and, as for anime... screw english, you can get free subbed episodes of most anime on www.youtube.com. i really pitty the Michigan...ians... if you guys don't have borders :)

Hey man, thanks for visiting my page. I'm 19, and I actually work as an audio technician (installing sound systems and crap). But my ambition is to become an illustrator. Any advice I could give would be to practice multiple mediums and to work on the stuff you suck at. In my case it would be hands and drawing quickly, XD. A good book I've read on the basics of art you might get a lot out of is "How to Draw What You See" by Rudy De Reyna. Study anatomy is also a great way to increase your abilities.
Good luck!

Oekaki? Do you mean photoshop? Well the photoshop I have is a demo that my dad got for free from another software. To get the actual program is very expensive. I draw and ink all my stuff on a piece of paper and scan it into the computer. After that I color with photoshop.
Tablets are sometimes used for photoshop. I think they would add more control to drawing on the computer. I don't have one so I don't really know. I use my mouse for all my photoshop stuff. I'm not too good with the mouse so I do simple stuff on photoshop.
About your art...In general to improve on drawing you should get the basic human figure down. The heads in your drawings tend to be larger than in real life. I do see improvement in your drawings. Just keep practicing.

thanks for the comment! i just use regular good old crayola and rosart :)
okay, so... tsubasa reservoir chronicle goes like this (and, by the way, it's both an anime and manga, but the manga is a bit better...though the anime has awesome music by yuki kajiura...): Sakura is the princess of Clow--and possessor of a mysterious, misunderstood power that promises to change the world. Syaoran is her childhood friend and leader of the archaeological dig that took his father's life. they reside in an alternate reality...where whatever you least expect can happen--and does. When Sakura ventures to the dig site to declare her love for Syaoran, a puzzling symbol is uncovered--which triggers a remarkable quest. Now syaoran embarks upon a desperate journey through other worlds--all in the name of saving Sakura. (at least that's the back cover of book 1 :P)
it's a shounen manga, great for...just about anyone. it is not only filled with action and drama, but also comedy, and is suitable for fans of all genres.

About your comment on if I had formal class, yes and no. I take art classes, but I learned how to use markers by experimenting and looking at on-line tutorials.
Here's some links I use:
http://www.lucentcanvas.com/extras/tutorials/tutorial.shtml
http://neondragonart.com/dp/tutorials/marker.htm
Again, with the basic 24 pack of markers you don't get any decent flesh tones for people. That is why all my marker pictures are cats. :P

honey, i'll do your request when i get a damn second in which to do it. i havn't forgotten. i wasn't even going to do any more requests. i've just had exams, i just failed my driving test, my so called best friend has just tried to hurt me very badly, i'm suffering from depression and i'm close to getting thrown out of my house. your picture isn't exactly top of my list. be patient.

I got my prismacolor markers from "Santa." so I don't really know how much they cost. They are pretty expensive. dickblick.com sells the 24 pack at $43.28, but I think they were on sale earlier this year for cheaper. The colors I got don't have any flesh tones or grays, you would have to buy those separately. I'll do your fish.

Hehe no you didn't offend me at all, I'll take all the advice I can get. The suggesting for the posing is good, but my sideview bodies kinda suck :p Yeah and I know their bodies are kinda icky, but its an old piccy so I don't sweat it much, maybe I should redo it, who knows. Oh and the reason its from the waist up is because, uh, I'm not exactly ready to draw any lower than that ^///^ plus I suck at legs. Thanks for the suggestions and for commenting. I really appreciate it ^-^
