The Best of the Turok games
Some people say that the first game, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, was the best... however, the only thing they talk about is the game play, which is always important with any video game, but that's it. Turok 2 had several things that the first game simply didn't have at all...

1.Storyline and plot
2.You're given mission objectives
3.What type of enemies you're up against
4.We learn some history of the Lost Land
5.Enemy AI is harder
6.Two different endings
7.More and different weapons
8.Multiplayer

None of this is in the first game, the second one improved everything. It has just about everything that video games have today, everything to make it memorable, Turok 1 simply wouldn't cut it these days. The trailer for the game is pretty badass.

Most of the complains that I hear about this game is that it's not easy enough, it's not holding their hand throughout the whole game... because heaven forbid that a game actually be hard or challenging. Now I'm not a master at playing video games and I'm not saying that the game is perfect, it does have its problems. Since the levels are massive, there's very few places to save your game, not enough ammo, enemies will re-spawn but not guns or ammo, you'll have to backtrack a few times to find certain items, you have to collect every item in the game and shoot the last boss in a certain way in order to beat him so you can get the good ending... which is actually not the canon ending. But the game is not impossible.

Plot hole
One problem with the storyline in Seeds of Evil and Shadow of Oblivion is that Joshua and his two siblings have no prior combat training of any kind, nothing is shown or stated in the games, they just become super warriors instantly. The only things that helps them are the high tech weapons, clothing and items that gives them special abilities. It was more believable with Tal'Set who came from a warrior tribe during the 1800s, he does get the same type of high tech weapons and special items, but his warrior background that we learn from Turok Evolution, a prequel to the first game, made him more believable. Now there not the first characters in video games to suddenly become an expert in combat, it's just an annoying trope that goes on in video games.

No Turok 4
It's too bad that Acclaim Studios Austin went bankruptcy in 2004 before a sequel could be made to Turok 3, because I will always prefer Joshua Fireseed and Tal'Set than that other guy from 2008. A sequel was in development for that game but layoffs at Propaganda Games (Propaganda… oh god, why the hell would someone choose a name like that???) resulted in the project being cancelled. But I hated that game, so I didn't care.

One of the many things I loved about Turok 1, 2 and 3 was that you weren't just fighting dinosaurs because that gets very boring and repetitive very fast. You not only fight dinosaurs, but dinosaurs that have weapons that shoot back, humans, monsters, mutants, aliens, robots, the supernatural, and giant bosses. You had weapons that could tear the enemy to pieces, underwater weapons, arm blades and so on. In Turok 2, you can ride what's called a Tratop Dino Tank... none of this was found in Turok 2008...

These classic old school games are not the type that you’re going to finish in a few hours. Tal'Set, Joshua or any Turok is far better as a lone warrior, or he should only have one partner (like in the original comic books). Not a space marine (Aliens rip-off) working with dozens of people who either don’t like him, don’t trust him, and they try to kill him. I'm sick of partnerships that have nothing but conflict going on.
