"Who's under the Mistletoe" won by 5 votes! Everyone loves the romantic theme. I will submit the official picture advertising the 2011 Christmas Contest (will be the official day the contest starts). As of now, get your ideas ready!

For FAC users who still do not understand how to upload pictures through comments/profiles:


^Insert the picture's URL inbetween those brackets. This is special coding for images.

Or, you can do it the text box tools way:
Up in the text box tools, you will see a button that looks like a blue pen on red paper. That is the "Image" insertion tool. Press it, insert the image URL into it, then press "OK."


Ask me if there is some difficulties!

FAC has finally taken off the need to ask an administrator for forum access if you are a new user. The troll population has finally died down. You can access the forums no matter how new you are; just make sure to use them wisely!

The site staff has decided to bring back site staff-hosted contests around the first week of October!

"If somebody else wants to do it I think it could be a good idea to start again sometime later this year." -cstdenis (evil overlord of FAC)

Details:

-It will be a Halloween contest (I will mainly be in charge of it)
-Prize: Posting the winner on the site news (this will be an alternative to those who still do not completely qualify for featured pictures or are too new to be popular)
-We have until about October 10, 2011 to give me some interesting Halloween contest theme ideas for the first official FAC contest of the year
-With the help of an adminsitrator, I will advertisse the official contest theme around October 5, 2011 on the main site, forums, and on my own profile
-Personally, I think this first contest should be judged by the site staff on skill, creativity, etc. Having a "popularity" voting system for the winner of the contest will be unfair since even the good artists here are not that popular

This is the first contest, so I highly advise all kinds of opinions on the style/running/theme/aspects of this contest, even if they sound stupid! If we do not fully flesh out this contest system in the beginning, it will stay quite concrete at the end, so tell me your thoughts now!

-If you guys are wondering about that long-lost-and-forgotten Pheral Redesign Contest, it has been currently postponed for judging because there is a lack of good enough submissions. The ones that were submitted fulfilled some of the requirements, but not really. They did not want too much detail because resizing it as a logo would make it lose much of its details and make it pixelated. Also, I personally think clear/easy to see digital art would work best. This does not mean that all traditional art submissions for the pheral are rejected though. We will see what type of submissions come in. They also seem to be wanting to add this new design if possible in with the new features when FAC has its new update (which, according to Denis, will be around Christmas). Keep thinking about fancy designs though. So far, they have done a test run for Gety's pheral design on the forums, and it has been looking good so far.

If there are still not more reasonable submissions ideas, we could just make Gety's design as the main page one too. That is what I think we should do.

-Also, I submitted some possible new featured artist names to the site staff, so hopefully, we can update the year-old featured artist soon.

Now that I am a part of the FAC staff, I would like to encourage all of you to help me and the other staff members make this site more genuine by reporting any possible stolen pictures.

If you have seen the picture before on Deviant art/other websites and feel it is not the same artist, find photo manipulated images that attempt to hide signatures/certain personal details, can prove that the picture is traced from a screenshot/picture from another website(etc), please PM:

-Battou
-Stratadrake
-luckylace222
-unfocused
-cstdenis (he is the boss of FAC; you do not hear much about him, but he will still get your message)
-Any other site helpers that can process your information!

Here is the "Artist Abuse Assistance" forum section meant to inform users of possible art thefts if you lack proof but are still suspicious about the picture.

Also, there is a reasonably easy way to find other sources of a picture if you want to find out where you saw this possibly stolen picture before.

TinyEye is a search engine that connects pictures that you link to other pictures of the same match all over the Internet. It is not perfect, but if you can find multiple matches from many different websites with potentially different artists, the picture is most likely stolen and needs to be brought to the attention of the FAC staff.

Just right click the picture and press "Copy picture URL" and copy and paste it in the TinyEye search bar to have it work.

We will highly appreciate any help from the FAC population! I do not like it when people steal my art, and I am sure you feel the same with your art. Thanks!
