That is frikken adorable. Shadow's just quiet. When he's with people he doesn't know, he comes off as shy, if they're normal people. If it was in the course of his 'job' he'd be all business-like, but he's the kind of person who doesn't talk much, so when they do you know it's important. Once he gets to know you, though, he can kind of be stupid. But in a good way. He's not 'shy' around Shruikan or Astarael or Phantom, obviously. Mostly, he's afraid he'll say something weird and it will be even more awkward because he doesn't know them, so he just doesn't say anything at all. I know how that feels ... I'm a bit like that around people I don't know. But, see, you know him as emo or whatever because that's the only side you've seen: the annoying little bits of his past, like 'they're from a blunt letter opener' and 'he stabbed his friend in the foot after killing a man when he was only nine or ten.' Those make him sound emo, yes, but he hardly reflects on his past when he's in the company of a bunch of people. (he's the kind of person who would sit in the corner and read at parties, rather than force his awkward presence(sp?) on people.) But ... I dunno.

I JUST HAD A REVELATION. The scene at the end of every book features the current dada teacher. Book one, Quirrel was the one trying to steal the Philosopher's stone. Two, Lockhart went with Ron and Harry into the Chamber. Three, Lupin followen Harry and Hermione through the passage into the Whomping Willow, and turns into a werewolf. Fouth was Crouch!Moody, who bewitched the cup and later tried to kill Harry. In book five Umbridge caught them and was led afoul of the centaur herd by Hermione, and Six Snape kills Dumbledore. The current dada teacher is always instrumental to the plot in that climatic sequence at the end. Whoooh. Off to go finish CoS now ...

2. 'He tends to be a bit of a loner because he doesn't have a whole lot of social skills. He's very nice, but he doesn't know how to start conversations with people or how to introduce himself. Once he knows someone he's fine, but he has difficulties in social situations.' We'd get along. xD

Umm ... Shruikan first. You know what? you chnged them all to 'she', and I'm kinda lazy right now. So let's just pretend it says 'he'.

He's not really the sort to have secret wishes. There were several times he felt he had to leave Astarael, and vice versa, and he sometimes regrets that this happened, but it's no secret.
If she could forget one thing that happened to her in the past, what and why?
There was one thing, which for the longest time he definately would have forgotten. Now he's mostly past it, and he knows that if it weren't for that thing he never would have met Astarael. So what he has now is worth a few terrifying memories.
If she could change one thing that she did, what and why?
Not following Astarael when he left with Phantom. He would likely only have gotten himself captured too, but he believes that there is still a chance he might have been able to fight off the people following those two, and at least take Astarael's place as the captured one.
If she could change one thing about her physical appearance, what would it be?
He's really quite happy with his apearance.
What one thing would she change about her personality, given the chance?
He wishes he were less attached to Astarael at times. He's very protective, and can be a lot like August in that respect.
What one skill does she most wish she had?
Maybe patience?
What does she think of intimate relationships?
The most wonderful thing ever.
What does she consider rude above all else?
People who don't heed others' requests. Couldn't get that to sound right, so for example: If he were to ask a person not to touch his wings, and they continued to do so anyway.
What does she think of revenge?
He doesn't care if the logic behind it makes no sense whatsoever. Often it has to do with conscience. But revenge is often hurtful to those who are close to its seeker.
Which of the challenges at the end of book one would she find the easiest (with his current abilities)?
The keys or the troll. Demons are natural hunters, which would make the keys easy, and they are also well-adapted to fighting enemies larger and stronger than themselves. A troll would be rediculously easy compared to a dragon.
Which would be the most terrifying?
Probably the Devil's Snare.
The hardest?
The chess game. He is overly protective, and while he could probably win if he were alone, if he had two good friends with him he would spend most of his time trying not to have them taken, which would make winning hard. (I almost said the potions, due to him not being that good with riddles and language and not being able to read, but then it occured to me that he could smell them, having a very keen sense of smell. The two that were identical would be the wine, and he is very good at sniffing out poison. The last two would be forwards and back. The back one was on the end, so all he would need was the clue, 'different are those who stand at either end, but if you would move onward, neither is your friend'. Yeah, maybe it's cheating, but it would work, so you can't complain.)
What position would she most like to play in Quidditch, assuming she had to pick one?
He would enjoy beater the most, and be very good at it, but he would probably be even better at seeker. See the flying keys one.
Which house would she most likely be in?
Gryffindor or Slytherin. He is very brave and prankstery and self-sacrificing, but he is also very cunning and an excellent liar. So he could go either way.
Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, or Drumstrang?
Hogwarts. Beauxbatons seems too ... you know (I think you used the term 'uppity' here), and Drumsrang too strict.

I could see him being a quidditch player. He would be a good Auror too, but it would be too structured for him. Are there freelance aurors?

Again, he'd probably go for sports. He's not the type to do serious work. And he would be essentially illiterate. (he knows demon, but that's not any good) Or something like a bodyguard, if it weren't so uppity. Or an actor.

I'd say Sirius Black. They are a lot alike. Also some Ron.

He knows that every experience, however terrible, helps make you who you are, which he picked up from the Phantom. Before he met the Phantom, he would have chosen to forget all of his memories of the time he spent with another boy (the one he ended up stabbing in the foot) even though those were his only even remotely happy memories at the time. A person who has never known happiness cannot truly be miserable ..

Not doing more to save Light, even though there was nothing he could've done.

Naah, he's fine with his appearance. Though sometimes he is a bit conscious about his scars.

He'd like to be more natural around people.

Be better at physical fighting.

In his experience, no good can come of them. He would get hurt, and if not, the other would. He wishes that he could have the positive kind that everyone else seems to.

He regrets that he wasn't there for the Phantom. There was nothing he could've done about that, though. He would probably change the way he'd treated Shruikan during that time. Shruikan really isn't bothered by it, he knows that it is past, but Astarael can't forget it.

We already know his ideal environment, but he really doesn't care where he is as long as he either has Astarael with him, or meets up with a group of people like August who he can be stupid with. Probably someplace like Ireland, with cool bars, good alchohol, and friendly locals.

I think it's kind of funny how similar Lucifer is to Shruikan before he met Astarael. They both would sleep with anyone, regardless of gender, as long as they were hot; both would respect it if someone refused ... Shruikan wasn't really vain, though. He kind of thought of himself as trash. He was a drug addict, and the only part of his appearance he cared about was the wings. But they had the same social life.

I have come to the same conclusion. They are most likely the same person. The fact that she uses a second alias in arguements is only further proof that she's not sure of herself. If you read her profiles, you will also see that she is seriously narcissistic, seing as each profile says the other, and thus herself, is her best friend. They talk the same, always have the same sort of icons and profile pictures, neither has posted any art, and they probably have the same list of 'friends'. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill ... when was the last time either of us cried because we got a haircut? It wasn't even a bad one ....

I sketched the comic where Bea gets all pissed off because Pip is kind of being an airhead about Shadow. She's thinking about making a shrine in her closet and a Shadow fan club, and then she randomly shouts out, 'AND YOU CAN BE THE VICE PRESIDENT, BEA!' (I didn't have room to write out 'Beatrix') And so Beatrix wtf's all over the place, then goes down to dinner and hears Shadow and August talking about salty yuckness ...

But yeah. Anywho ... I think it's funny. Then there's the next one to draw, where Shadow totally pwns Bea. I decided to make it Gwen who dies laughing, because Pip is probably busy clearing out space in the closet. (Pip shares a room with Beatrix. And maybe Gwen and Felix. Because they live in dorms. It's very like Hogwarts, as I believe I said before.)

I got the idea for a series of comics in the shower last night. They take place in a really strict boarding school, which both of us, Gwen, Beatrix, Ged, August, and prob'ly a bunch of other people I'm too lazy to type, for some strange reason go to school. And the story begins when Shadow transfers in. Chaos insues. I just sketched out the female uniforms. I was planning on making them a really weird colour, but decided that they should be pretty, because I have to draw them. So the school colours are dark burgundy red and medium-dark grey. And ... yeah. I'm going to use it to get some of those fracken themes out of the way. The first one will be theme one (haha, funny how that works) because I say so. >:D

Oh, yeah, do you have an older-sounding girl's name that 'pip' might be a nickname of? Because for the comic I was going to change our names. And if you have one for me, that's cool too, because you'd be pip. Maybe I'll go rip off some names from Eldest ...

They kind of live together. If you remember, Astarael 'adopted' Shadow. They kind of have an Edward-Alphonse relationship, though Shruikan acts more like August than Edward. Shadow is very much the sensible 'younger brother'.

Shadow never had parents, so he doesn't really know how to react to having a 'father'. You probably wouldn't either. (Astarael insists that Shadow calls him 'father', mostly because the Phantom won't.)
Psyn?
Hmmmm, I really don't know what to say without it being a spoiler. Needless to say, it would be rather awkward. Even more so for Psyn.
Teacup?
He could actually identify with her very well. They're both emo, and he once felt similarly about whether he lived or died. And he's want to help her overcome it.

::zips off to finish Star King title page:: It's really creepy, actually. It's the Phantom, with eyes on the hands and one arm around Astarael's throat. And he's kind of pulling it away, but also kind of smiling. AND RRRGH I KEEP BEING ACCOSTED BY STUPID LITTLE ANNOYING FLIES. But it will have Shruikan and Shadow in the background, along with various other creeper-ness. But yeah, anywho .. Shadow actually makes a brief appearance. It's really small, and from behind, but rest assured it's him. I don't think the creepy-ness can be conveyed in words ... and the background, at least, will be monochrome. I might do Phantom and Astarael in colour, but I haven't decided yet.

He really doesn't get embarrassed easily. Probably when he was really young and trying to fit in with the elves, and then did something undeniably demon-ish.

Have to say, neither. Shruikan is rather contrary, and has a problem with authority, but he also has no desire to lead and would not want to associate himself with the sort of folk who tack themselves on to others as followers. He and the Phantom are very alike in this respect.

I found my kanji dictionary. It made me happy. I'm really tired. I was coming up with bankai names for Shadow. I has drawn a really cool picture. But I was gonna finish the Astarael profile, or at least work on the comic ... Whatever. This comment has been sitting for probably about ten hours so I'm gonna post it. Hahaha, I was just drawing this ... thing. It's a short, one-shotty manga. It is awesome. I was walking home today, and these vivid images for this one part that isn't really a part popped into my head. Really vivid images. So of course I'm stuck drawing it now. Wow. I ... don't have any homework. O____O I feel so free. (in case I forgot to tell you, I had two papers and a filming project this weekend. I probably ruin the Harry Potter movies for everyone. Namely, the third one. And probably the fifth. Due to something I say about a certain actor. Like, the worst casting choice. Ever. Me and my dad agreed that Snape is the best casting choice in the entire series. Though I thought the original Dumbledore was pretty good, too. Not the new one, though. And I must say, the Malfoys are not bad, either.

But yeah. Okay. So ... one day a while back, I was reading essays on blueskies. ... and I found this:

Sorry for the romaji. I tend to write spellings romaji-ish-ly, because I don't know how to do so otherwise. English should have its own katakana. But everyone else knows it's 'bucket'. So yeah. She's pretty much the most annoying charactere in any show ever. I challenge you to find someone more annoying)

Last night I was really tired. So I went to sleep at ten, and slept for eleven hours straight. And I had a weird dream. It had baloon animals in it, and Gwen, and it took place in a frozen-over version of Agrabah. I haven't played kingdom hearts in forever, nor have I seen that movie, so I don't know where that came from. There were a bunch of other people and a plot, but I don't remember any of those.

Yeah, proportions suck. Especially female ones. The first chapter of my manga has turned into a study of female proportions. Because Beatrix is in it, a lot more than I intended. She won't really be in it beyond the first few chapitres, but before that she is a pretty important character. The first few chapitres are looking like they won't have more than four characteres, other than the filler people. Which reminds me, you appear in the background in a panel. I'm there, too. We are walking a ways behind where Shadow is standing ... it's really small, but you're looking at him like, 'HE'S SO CUTE!!<3<3' and I just kind of look bored. Beatrix is taller than Shadow. It's funny. And to think, he's probably older than she is, and he's a guy. (he's in his early twenties, though his real age is unknown. I think I already told you that ...)

Fay is the most adorable little kid everrr. Especially that one scene where there were the two baby Fays. I call them both Fay. I know that the other one had a name, but ... I've got green tea chai. It's yummy. And I started drawing another charactere profile! Betcha can't guess who. I know! I'll post the random facts as hints. They are as follows:

I FINISHED STRANGE AND NORRELL~~! I almost stayed up 'til I finished. Almost. I had like 50 pages left, and decided I could read on the bus. Which reminds me, it rained today. I'M SO HAPPY~! By the way, my prediction about Stephen Black was right, too. Along with the Vinculus one ... I dunno if I told you that. But yeah. The best part in that entire 1000+ page book is the measly little three pages in which the Raven King actually appears. He's amasing. And he pwns the world. Well, he's mentioned throughout the entire thing, but here you have the immense honour of meeting him in person. Well, okay, it doesn't say it's him, but if you can't get it by then ... :eye roll: I dunno how extensively you've perused Cynn Corvus, but that little manga thingy she drew on there is based on that scene. So if you haven't read the book, it won't make the slightest bit of sense to you ... xD; But .. yeah. It's funny if you know what's really going on ... but yeah whatever. I'll shut up now, lest I spoilerise something. (and the Raven King doesn't really lick anyone in that scene, by the way)

I meant to ask: does Beatrix like to dance? As in, ballroom. She makes a bit-part appearance in RD. So ... yeah. page one is more or less 'drawing practise for curvy women'. And they use pounds as their currency. xDD But it doesn't take place in England. Poor Shadow. He's never heard of Pounds in his life ...

Well, it did succeed in getting approved. And it fracked up my apostrophes, so I had to go fix them. Then I submitted part two. So it should be up by this time tomorrow at the latest.

Ehh ... oh, right. I dunno if I told you, but I got to drawing the actual comic this past weekend. I finished the sketch for page one, started inking it, got bored, started sketching page two, then left to read Strange and Norrell. Because if any book is addicting ...

The gentleman with the thistle-down hair really is a total @$$. But I forgive him, because he just did his most @$$-like thing to a charactere who wasn't exactly my favourite in the first place. Plus, he's prettier. Is it kind of odd that I wouldn't put either of the title characteres on my list of favourite characteres? Strange is not exactly free of assy behaviour himself, and Norrell is boring and cowardly and self-centered and greedy (though not in the usual sense) and he keeps his riches to himself (ditto) and he does something TOTALLY INEXCUSABLE. And extremely ungateful. That book actually has quite a few asses. (actually, I'd say that the only redeeming quality Norrell has is that he's got a cool servant.)

I STOPS RANTING NOW. I'll go look at your da favourites, as I have neglected thus far to do so.

My copy is a little over 1000 pages. 1006, I think. But it's a smaller paperback, I think the original Bloomsbury printing was somewhere around 800. It's still fracken long. And really good. And the footnotes make it seem even more realistic. For example, not being all that well-acquainted with English legends, I thought the Raven King was actually a real legend in real England. Which he isn't. Unfortunately. Yeah, you can laugh at me ... OOOH MAYBE FAC FINALLY GOT THE TRAILER UP I'M GONNA GO CHECK! ;D

I also think I get something about Stephen Black, but ... I'm not quite as sure about that one. I'm pretty convinced at this point, though. (mainly because of a certain prophesy guess-which-charactere is quite fond of reciting to those it concerns ...)

I'm going to wrap up this comment, which has been nothing more than a perfectly infuriatingly spoiler-free account of all the stuff I've guessed without Clarke having actually said so (I do that a lot, don't I?), and I shall now go read me some DA comments, then probably return to my lovely Strange & Norrell (in which, for future reference, I am on page 678. So ya. But you might want to wait anyway, cause it has some other info, such as height, weight, etc. He's prolly about your height, actually. In flats. Shadow is very skinny. And light. Teenage girls who are anything short of anorexic would be jealous. And he doesn't have a birthday, or an exact age for that matter, as there are no records of his birth. And he has no family to speak of. Poor Shadow. Nahh, the closest thing to 'family' he has is Light, who kind of wants him dead. I'm staying home sick today. Because I feel like yuck, and I woke up at two this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. And since I fell back asleep after my mum left, I still only got five hours of sleep. Had I gone to school it would've been three. I cannot proplerly function on just three hours of sleep. Dx; But anywhooo ... Yeah. It's weird, but you never really notice how long the night is until you spend it awake, as Alphonse said. It is very true.

But yeah. I think I am gonna do that contest thingy. With Shadow. The reward will be a wallpaper with a request-lineart in the colour of your choice, for the first three to complete a picture. Which must include Shadow, and have some effort put into it. Sound good? I'd give people until the end of June, because ... Whatever. I said so, that's why. Plus End of June is when we get back from yellowstone. So yeah. Would you draw me a Shadow?

He looks kinda like a cross between Ulqui and Zaerapollo. And Fay. I always for some reason think Shadow looks like Fay, for some crazy reason. Prob'ly the hair. But only before I add colour ... Shadow is actually a lot like Fay. Cept he's not as stupid .... (smacks Fay for being stupid) But I LOVE SHADOW. Way too much for my own good ...
