Description
Kelpie the seaweed dog. The name comes from kelp, a kind of seaweed. "Kelpie" is also the name given to mischeivous water sprites.
Drawn with an HB pencil, inked with 0.3 drawing pen, coloured with felt tips. Background is an ink wash that had its colours changed in Microsoft Photo Editor. Comments welcome! :)
Kelpie are extremely loyal and friendly - they just scuttle up to people passing by the shoreline and tag along behind them. They make great Itemfinders: they can sniff out items that are buried too deeply in the sand to be discovered by any other means. Unfortunately, Kelpie can get a bit carried away sometimes and people end up with a bag full of more shards and shells than they know what to do with.

Yep, his fur really is made out of seaweed... I can't really tell you how I got the effect, I've never tried seaweed before. I think I was started by drawing thick vertical lines with a dark marker, leaving some spaces in between, and then going over those spaces with progressively lighter colours.

... ... ... That's pretty rude, actually. It's meant to look simplistic, and seaweed is very difficult to draw with markers. Try it sometime, you'll find it's not that easy. And it's got four different shades of green in it, not just one.
Still, if you don't like it, or don't think it's any good, maybe you could draw it instead?
