This is actually a rather old pic that I did in 2003.
One day I had nothing better to do and decided to visit Singapore's island resort, Sentosa. Armed with a camera and a sketchbook, I was hoping to find a bunch of Jap kogals giggling around the island, instead to find that the day I came was actually an off-peak period and all I could find was the flora and fauna and the occasional couple holding hands and groping @$$.

So being the typical war junkie, I decided to visit the former British colonial fort, Fort Siloso. Once a fortified position to defend the Island against the Japs in WWII, of which it never came to use, (the japs didn't enter by sea as the Brits had expected, but by land through Malaysia.) it now stands as a tourist attraction for silly war junkies like me and tourists to know how the "great" white man could fall to the puny asian fart.

Anyway, after viewing the pictures and historical items in the Officers' mess, I was surprised that a peahen and her chicks had decided to rest by the door. Thing is, while I could see them, they couldn't see me, as the glass panel of the door was a mirror from the outside.

So there I was, standing just inches away from them, without the slightest chance that they would see me. I quickly unveiled my camera and wasted more than a quarter of the shots in a roll of film. Then, while trying to contain my excitement, I drew out my sketchbook and detailing whatever actions I saw. Their preening, their mother watching over them, everything.

It was then that I realised, that nature can sometimes surprise you, and leave you feeling a whole lot better, even better than oogling at a bunch of kogals in their tweeny-weeny skirts and sailor uniforms.

And with that, plus a couple of rounds at the Underwater park and dolphin shows, I ended my day with a happy smile and a tinge of sadness as I left the island without seeing a kogal.
